    Some of the commentary in this forum has been pretty negative about Chilkoot Charlie's, and I gather it's not for everyone. However, I got a kick out of the place myself, and would go back to visit in a heartbeat.

    The place has been around for a good long time now, so they must be doing something right.

    I did AK international style. Stayed in a hostel around the corner. I had a BLAST! @ Chilkkoots!
    Close to “home”.
    Multiple venues. In one building.
    I sat on piers.
    Pizza was available.
    pool
    Live music.

    Best damn time in AK.
    HANDS DOWN

    Yeah Glacier and moose’s tooth are ALWAYS packed!

    not a brewery or beer centric bar, but no trip to anchorage is complete without a visit to Darwin’s Theory.

    It's been a few trips since I've done a Darwin's stop. Last year notwithstanding, I'm always there the first week of November, and most nights end with a beer and some popcorn at Darwin's. It's not for everyone (but hey, I'm also not a koot's fan, and it seems to be a big hit with most people... so maybe I'm an outlier), but it's a great little hole. Now that there are more good cans in AK, I'd be interested to see if their offering has changed...

    You have to be very specific on the size of your cocktail at Darwin’s. Would you like it as a shot, on the rocks, in a bucket, in a tub, in a pint glass or a pitcher? That chick was nutso!
