Coming back up to anchorage again in may and have some questions about where to go for beers on a sunday
What questions do you have? Specifically? Just where to go for beers in general? Pretty much every place, but the Snowgoose, is open on Sundays. Check the Alaska section under "places". This will give you a run down on just about every beer location in Anchorage area.
Midnight Sun is a must for a few. I've become pretty fond of the Taproot on my last few trips down there.
Does glacier do growlers of stuff like big woody? Does anybody want me to bring some beers to share or trade While I'm up there? Beer stores: I went to a large store in a strip mall next to a big sporting goods store I usually goto, sound familiar to anyone? Is that the goto store?
Glacier brewhouse does not fill growlers of big woody and their barrel aged stuff. The liquor store you went to is Goldrush liquor, they have a good selection of bottles but if you go to Brown jug warehouse or la bodega they have the same selection of bottles and they also have a pretty big tap list as well. Definitely stop by Midnight sun if you have time.
Seriously, just go to this list: http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/list?city=Anchorage&c_id=US&s_id=AK You can then plan your itinerary according to where you'll be or where you can travel to. This site is pretty thorough with providing map links, brewery/bar/restaurant websites, plus you get to read the reviews to see what other travelers and locals think of each place. This is what my husband and I do every time we travel someplace new. The BA "places" guides are invaluable...a must for every beer traveler!
Cafe Amsterdam, although quite expensive, always seems to have some impressive beers on tap. Last 2 times I was in town they had 2009 Berserker on tap one trip and Bar Fly the other time, and it's conveniently located right next to la bodega (looks like they have deschutes abyss on tap right now, per their website). Agree that midnight sun is a must.
