Anchorage Brewing - A Deal With The Devil

It was the winner of Brouwer's Hard Liver in Seattle last year. So it's better than at least 60 other Barleywines

 

Apparently at this years Great Alaskan Barleywine Festival it came in third behind a Firestone Walker and other breweries Barleywine. So the argument of winning best of is somewhat irrelevant. Was looking for people who actually had the beer and what characteristics it has that make it "stand apart" if you will.

 

I'd check out the reviews on it then

 

Brewery isn't open to the public. Sorry, man. I have my brother in law up there on high alert for when it's released, too. Keep an eye on Facebook/Twitter and you might have some luck.

It's been released in a few places in Anchorage (La Bodega, Goldrush, BJWH) already - very small quantities and it has sold out very quickly. I've had to work this week and by lunch I have missed out.

I hoping there will be some more deliveries and be at the right place at the right time later this week.

Its a great beer but like someone mentioned it came in 3rd at the GABBF: Alameda (Portland, OR) was 1st and Sucaba was 2nd. I didn't try the Alameda and the Sucaba was served ice cold .

It did not win though it did get second or third I believe. The cognac barrels are just so fantastic. Hope this is a yearly thing.

I don't know if we'll get this in the St. Louis area but I work at a Friar Tucks where we get lots of good stuff that other locations do not; if someone can get this and is interested in trading contact me!!

 

Does anyone know if / when this will hit Fairbanks at all?

 

Dang you are right, for some reason I was thinking midnight sun brew pub bla. Hmmm bad news it is already being released and bought up so quick. Will need to get checking around I guess.

Yep, $30 per 750 ml bottle in Anchorage.

 

Is this already sold out in Anc? other than the Lotto ones at LaBodega?
