Just this week I was happy to discover a wonderful series of Brett Saisons made by Anchorage Brewing Company. I saw them around Boston for quite some time, but never took the leap. Well, I'm happy that I did, but unfortunately these beers have now become hard to find. My understanding is that the distributor went out of business a couple of years ago, so it's whatever you can still find. Most of them seem to have been made between 3-5 years ago, but I found them to still be drinkable and enjoyable. The ones I've tried so far: Nectar Honey Saison, Mosaic Brett Saison, Nelson Sauvin Brett Saison, and a brett Triple called "The Tide and the Takers". So my question is: when was the last time that Anchorage made a Brett saison (that they bottled) and if they stopped, are they planning on starting again? I sent them an email, but I've heard nothing back. I'm hoping someone might have the inside scoop. Any other fans from around the country?

It’s been awhile. Love Buzz is still available to go at the brewery. There’s some Fruited Sours + Brett (Chardonnay barrel) that have been releasing somewhat regularly.

Anchorage seems more concerned with canned hazy IPAs and stupid expensive barleywine now.

I swear when they first opened Gabe said every beer would have brett. I didn't even know they made an actual IPA.

There's a canned hazy IPA released weekly - so that's fair. And it's typically very good for the style - although some of the smaller local brewers have caught up or IMHO surpassed (Girdwood, Black Spruce).

Barleywine is very small batch and released 1-2 times per year. I think the last two (vanilla / triple oaked) were 5 and 3 barrels respectively (physical whiskey barrels - not whatever the tax man counts as a barrel).

The fruited sours are released about every 2 months for a very reasonable $8 / 375 - so an important part of the program. ABC is in the middle of expanding their footprint at their existing location will include an orchard, large commercial kitchen, and a coolship. The food currently being served is some of the best in town.

Also the occasional canned kolsch / pils traditional approach. Big pastry stouts every 2 or so months. Haven't seen a saison in a while - so that's my only gripe right now...

I feel what is going on over there is quite diverse.

The first beer brewed by Anchorage was an IPA. There were always IPAs but for the first several years they were draft only sold to local accounts. These were haze free west coast beauties which I wish he would resurrect. Been Haze only for 3-4 years now.

I would add adjunct/pastry stout to that list. And also note that those IPAs are north of $7 each when they get to the lower 48. But maybe that's just what we hear about on social media, I've seen a bunch of non-hyped c&c bottles locally that I've been meaning to buy.

I can only speak for the Portland area, but we still get Anchorage distribution and I can tell you that Tide and It's Takers is still in production. I haven't seen the others you mentioned in a while, but as someone else pointed out, Love Buzz is excellent and if a Belgian IPA with Brett sounds good to you, Bitter Monk is delicious as well.

Bitter Monk was awesome! RIP. But I get it, gotta brew what the people want and where the money is.
