I'm visiting AK this year, and I'm curious how Anchorage Brewing's releases work. - Are they pre-announced or completely unannounced? - Where is the best place to get their release announcements? - If you are lucky enough to get a release online, when is the pickup window? (i.e. is it restricted to same day as announcement, a later date, etc) Thanks!
For the most part, their releases are pre-announced. IPAs are usually announced a day or two before a Friday/Saturday release. The stouts and barleywines are usually announced with a little more notice as they tend to use the online purchasing option. I have seen a few tap features get announced on the day they are tapped... usually Deal or Darkest Hour or some other highly coveted beverage. Facebook and Instagram are the places that I see the release info. There could be other platforms that I’m not aware of though. As far as pickup windows go, it’s usually a few days after the purchase date that pickup begins. I bought a used barrel from them recently on a Monday and picked it up on Thursday.
All good info above. The chalkboard inside the brewery will have upcoming releases listed before the online resources. Sometimes a few weeks in advance. The online releases are typically waxed stouts and the occasional BW. Pick-up window is 2-3 weeks. Although still not cheap, getting the beer onsite is considerably less then Tavour.
