I recently learned that Andechs beer is available in Pennsylvania. Has anyone seen any of their products on draft or in bottles anywhere? Thanks for your help.
Haven't seen any & haven't heard that they're available in western PA. How did you come by this information? Do you know who's supposed to be distributing them?
Have you seen any further east like the Philly suburbs? I would be interested in buying single bottles (or 4/6 packs). Cheers!
St. Killian is an importer, not a wholesaler/distributor. They are owned by L. Knife and Son, which owns numerous distributors (see list at site) but they also supply non-L. Knife distributors (like Ben E. Keith in TX). I suppose looking at the other brands St. Killian's imports would reveal the distributor if one is familiar with the local's portfolios. Andechs is also being imported by Colorado-based S&H Brands and their distributors are at http://www.shbrands.com/#!distributors/c1ki9 Not sure how the two importers have divided up the US market as far as the dividing line.
I've not looked any further East. I live on the Western side of Lancaster County and when I learned about Andech's availability, I found a distributor on the Western edge of Chester County to order it for me. It's about a 50 minute drive from my house, which isn't bad. Good luck.
Based on the inclusion of Carlsberg & San Miguel in their portfolio, I'd assume that Fuhrer would handle other St. Killian's brands & don't see Andechs on their imports list: http://www.fuhrerwholesale.com/import-brews.php If I'm off-base in this assumption, please set me straight. Wouldn't surprise me if eastern PA gets Andechs & western PA doesn't - distribution to these regions is very different.
