so I know this beer isnt distro'd to the US, but it is apparently not that hard to find on shelves in Germany (at least in certain regions). Unfortuntely I dont have many friends who travel to Germany regularly, so I think Im looking at a trade to pick this one up. Has anyone been successful here in trading for one, and what did it take?
If you're looking for a domestic trade, then Westy is probably a reasonable guideline as to what you'll need to give up. Westy is a hell of a lot more popular, but there are also a hell of a lot more bottles of Westy coming into the US. If you're willing to trade internationally, you can probably score it with anything that would make the shipping worthwhile to the European.
My first experience with beer was at Kloister Andechs. I was an exchange student to Germany when I was 13 and spent a day there. I was a small child and it took 2 hands for me to pick up the 1 liter mugs. That was also my first experience with over-consumption (not my last). Does any Andechs stuff see American distrubution? I'd really love a mixed pack of their beers to reminisce over.
