Anyone else had this yet? Wow talk about catty....Nelson Sauvin hops and I expected more juicy fruity notes. Still an enjoyable beer but not what I was expecting with that hop but maybe that is what you should expect from it? I've only had it in beers a few times so my background is limited... I do not brew but have heard how hops are used in the boil can greatly influence the characteristics they exude. True?
Stuff is great, got a growler on Tues, Nice Hoppy red ale, I deff got a nice, gooseberry, grape aroma, and just a slight spice flavor as well, Yeah man people can perceive hops differently, to his there own, boil add times and amount can for sure change the hops characteristics, People say Cita and Simcoe are catty, I do not.So...... Yeah
The description lists Nelson Sauvin and no other hops are listed. I'd look elsewhere if you want Simcoe and Citra
[quotthe sacrelicio, post: 941854, member: 14990"]two of my favorite hops. must try this[/quote] Yep the other 2 are just examples, Nelson only brew.
Had a pint today with lunch it was malty, hoppy ,fruity, and spicy in that order delicious had a Grand Cru also nice lunch with great brews
This is true. To put it simply: Boiling hops for longer amounts of time = More of the bitterness characteristics of the hop. Boiling them for shorter times (adding towards the end of the boil) = More of the flavor characteristics, less bitterness. Dry hopping is usually just flavor and aroma and doesn't really add any bitterness at all.
First time I had it I shared a growler of Toppling Goliath PseudoSu first then we shared the growler of the Andy's Ale. The PsuedoSu is a Citra APA and it was juicy and citrusy....the Andy's seemed very catty in comparison and not nearly as juicy citrusy but sometimes the first beer you have can influence your taste on the second so I was excited to try my second growler of Andy's Ale on its own...same thing...real catty....not hating on it but just curious on the Nelson Sauvin hop and what to expect from it.
