Anise or Brett?

    Really? It's not everywhere around here in Central NY, but it's easy enough to find. Hm. It is a tasty, tasty beer.

    OK, thanks to this thread I just picked up a 4-pack of Rayon Vert. I'll post back in 2-3 years when I open the first bottle. :-)

    It is much more bretty fresh than Orval. Don't hesitate to open one right away and see how you like it.

    my honest guess is that you aren't using anise or brett correctly.

    My guess would be the coriander. The SH Grand Cru has a strong coriander flavor. I liken it to a strong celery flavor. I don't think anise would be in there.
