Was going to stop at Plum market Whole foods ( I see 2 listed) either better? Traders joes Not looking for anything in particular , better prices is always good tho Any other suggestions? Cheers all
This list is pretty comprehensive and sorted by score: http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/list?&s_id=MI&city=ann+arbor&store=Y&sort=name&sort=rating Plum market was great, haven't been to the top 3 on the list though. Guessing the supermarkets will have the best prices.
Don't bother with that outdated list. Tippins is decent but not worth the trip really. I'd hit up Plum, Wine Sellar, and if you're looking for cheap, but don't mind limited selection- Trader Joe's.
Hey thanks , was looking for current locals info . And I am always listening to this area 's info it's the closest good market for a lot of things but it's also a HIGH RENT district . Also I'm looking for better keg supplier , thought I found the mother load but it's got alot of limitations Cheers again and thanks ALL
Sometimes you'll find a gem or two at the Beer Depot but in general they're overpriced (sarro's right) and a lot of their merchandise is past it's prime. From what I've seen Main is slightly cheaper and (surprise) has slightly better turnover but still not a great store.
Agreed about Beer Depot & Main St., I think they're banking on their central location to justify high prices... Beerfly is simply a solid starting point, and one of the better resources BA offers. With the proliferation of these threads, it seems few are aware it even exists. What I took issue with was the "don't bother" part. Yes there are some older reviews for AA places, but a couple from March '12 also... it's up to BA's to add a quick review and keep content updated (if they want to). Dates aren't as relevant to overall quality (of selection/service/etc.) at stores, imho. /rantylecture
I agree that they are overpriced, but i have been able to score some bottles of stuff I can't find at other shops. Yeti comes to mind, and Cellar Reserve was another. Also worth noting that those guys are not dead set on the price the bottles are tagged with, because I was able to negotiate with Adi(sp?) the store owner on bottle prices.
I've been there a few times in the past few months without any problems. Decent selection, decent prices. Not much outstanding though. Kinda off the beaten path, as they're south outside of downtown AA. As far as limited beers go, I believe they only got 1 bottle of CBS to the store (which they split among the employees), not sure how much Better Half they got but I know it sold out in one afternoon, and they got in 4 cases of KBS, which they ended up selling through their website at $8.50/bottle, limit 2. They've always been happy to tell me if/when they'll be getting something new in.
