So they are less useful on weekend nights?

Busches for prepped food and perimeter shopping (cherry almond chicken salad is awesome), trader joes for groceries, ashleys and jp for beer, the wine seller for bottles, zingermans (of course). I'm very jealous; I love Ann arbor!

Busches? What do they have and what is perimeter shopping? I'm very excited. Considering everything I've heard from current and previous residents, I am in for a good time in a great city.

Yeah, buses are less useful on the weekends. However, all the parking garages downtown are free on Sundays, so that helps a lot.

Busch's, my bad. But the groceries can run a bit pricey, so shopping the "end-caps" for sale items is the way to shop there.

Is the street parking free on sunday as well?

Yep, street parking is free on Sunday and every day after 6pm.

    More stuff:

*Other Bottle Shop - Plum Market has great deals and a large selection, but groceries are expensive!

*Coffee Shops I Visit - MightyGood, Huge Starbucks off State, & Zingermans. There are many more, but these are my landing spots.

*Food - Ann Arbor is the second coming of Grand Rapids as far as food goes...man, all people do is go out to eat. Although, you're from Chicago, so you understand this. So many good places, make sure you budget before you get here.

I'm coming to town for the week of August 6 from the Carolinas. Can bring beers unavailable in your area.

This thread is older, but I'm going to add to it:

Kerrytown is the best part of town. I lived a couple blocks away and found myself biking there often to get bread (Zingerman's) or some nice groceries on splurging days (Sparrow Market and Monaghans). I didn't have a car, but had a motorcycle so in the summer I would bike over to Meijer, Hillers or Kroger for most of my normal grocery needs. Damn, I love Meijer so much.

Restaurants: No one has mentioned Jerusalem Garden yet, which is still my favorite place to get Middle Eastern food. I still go there over the holidays when I visit home. I would kill for a bowl of lentil soup and chicken fattoush with rice right now. Frank's is my favorite breakfast joint. Corned beef and hash there is so good.

Beer: Main Street Liquor is a great place to find bottles, although they are a little spensy. Beer Depot has brewing supplies and a decent beer selection! I would basically live at Ashleys if I lived in Ann Arbor

oh please LIME, the best breakfast is at fleetwood.

re: bottle shops - main street liquor shoppe, beer depot, plum market, whole foods (on ann-arbor saline road), and the little-known tippins market.

Wrong. Best breakfast is Afternoon Delight with Angelo's as a close second.

Yes. Angelo's sucked, especially after waiting for an hour. Never went back.
