I believe the sixpoint guy (sorry drawing a blank and he graciously posts here all the time!) pointed someone in another thread to Origlio and Shangys, suggesting they call those two companies to find out where they had distributed it.

Edit: Owners name is Shane, sorry about that.

Sixpoints website has a very good beer finder. Grantville it looks like you are going to have to drive a bit but the Sixpoint Beer Finder shows Hi-Res in Elizabethtown and Etters in shops/distributors. Mobile app works pretty well too.

Any chance we can get all the Hi-res talk into a separate thread?

Weather forecast not looking good for Monday at Shangy's.

Sorry derailing thread on Hi-Res. Back on track, I believe this weather issue is exactly why Shangys is releasing Hopslam in their retail store on Monday. Last year it was delayed day after day because of delivery delays due to weather (man there are a shit load of "d's" in that sentence). I am pretty sure kegs and cases likely come on the same truck and Hopslam is already on tap throughout eastern PA (outside of Westy's distro) thus I firmly believe there is a pile of Hopslam sitting at Shangy's at this very moment. Westy's already received theirs and sold out on Monday. They have also already distributed 480 cases throughout their 10 county network. I believe (yup, speculation) that Shangy's is just trying to curtail the non-sense last year where the answer was "it will be here tomorrow", day after day.

My original plan, since I'm off Monday, was to head to Shangys at 7:30 once I had everyone off to school and work. But my past experience has been that locals are awful at clearing roads between Shangy's and 78 even well after snow storms, so there is no way I'm going there during one. If it costs me a chance for a case of my favorite beer this year, so be it.

They're now saying on Facebook that they might not be open. Not sure when they'd be telling everyone though.

I heard from what I consider a reliable source that the LV bottles are dated 1/9/2015, looking forward to trying it (as always)

I got a case. Pretty pissed about the 1/9 bottle date. I know it isn't an insane hindrance of the quality of the beer but for f's sake, this beer is meant to be had FRESH. There is now way that this should just be getting released at this time

Tastes great, though. Who knows what happened re: the date. But if that concerns you so much, you may want to move to Michigan. 3 weeks is still fresh.

@mfunk9786 I'm not trying to say this ruined the beer but for the past 4 years I have been purchasing a case on the release date from Shangy's. This is BY FAR the biggest discrepancy in dates I have seen and something that irked me enough to post it on here (single digit posts despite being a member since 09)

Unless there's some sort of evidence that Shangy's sat on it for a substantial length of time (not like 3 or 4 days, but a couple of weeks), I just don't see what's so scandalous.

I don't think they sat on it very long. Lackawanna county accounts just got theirs last Friday, as opposed to having to wait until this Friday, and Luzerne accounts just got theirs today. They probably just got it sometime last week.

Again, I am quite confident that they received it between 01/23 - 01/26 and simply chose to make an official date of 02/02/2015 as they would be 100% confident they would have it at that point. Elvictus (post above) said Lackawanna county accounts got their last Friday. They got it from Shangys, so it's clear that they have had it for a week or so. However there are no targets on the back of those distributors as a surefire go to as there is at Shangys. Last years weather impact may have taught them a lesson in dealing with seekers of the mother load. Hell, look at this thread and you see postings of "they may not be open on 02/02 because of weather." Today was well managed. And they apparently had a shit ton of it as it was slowly trickling out the door at 6:45 PM today. During my observation around 11:30 AM it was interesting to see the volume of not only green boxes coming out of there but green boxes with a few more cases added on, along with a huge volume of macros (obviously with no green boxes). Guess Black Friday comes early in the fiscal year for Shangys.

Frankly, if I were running a place like Shangy's I'd be sure that my employees and the import part of my business had taken care of both receiving and then getting the cases of any very popular beers sent out to the retail distributorships I sell to, or at least well on their way to those customers, before I put my own retail stock out to be sold to the general public.

Furthermore, if I knew for certain (e.g., based on license plates, etc.) that car loads of out-of-staters had been coming in to to buy multiple cases to take back (illegally) to their home state where the beer wasn’t distributed at all, I'd be giving serious thought to having a general policy of limiting sales to one case per car as a way of helping to ensure that the in-state retail customers who account for most of my sales throughout the year had a reasonable shot at getting a case before it was all sold out.
