    But they don't really have any incentive to, do they? Even if they piss off a wholesale customer, that retailer can only buy Bell's through them, correct?

    Yep, that retailer can only buy from them. But what would be gained through deliberately pissing off your big customers who, as a group, buy lots more beer from you than any amount you sell through your retail operation? So if it were my operation I'd get the pallets out the door and on their way to the retail distributors before opening my retail door to the individual retail customer.

    Lots of folks subscribe to the idea that what goes around comes around and if I bite someone in the ass who is helpless they might not be helpless all the time. :-) A business book I recall reading once upon a time pointed out that the key to success is not crawling all over others on your climb to higher pay and position, the key to success is having other help push you up the ladder.

    I agree, it should be the right thing to do. I was just pointing out one of the flaws of the 3-tier system.

    Was driving to Shangy's today and decided I better call them to make sure they weren't out of Hopslam. Guess what, they're out of Hopslam. I knew I should have went yesterday.
