Interesting list is so European dominant, but then this is in there

"Orval, nestled in the Ardennes Forest, is the best for my money, because it’s the most bitter and highly hopped off the Trappist ales."

Most bitter and highly hopped, sounds like a very American thing to me. If I want that I would prefer a WCIPA, if I'm in Belgium that's not why I'm drinking delicious Trappist Ales. Give me bunch of Quads or Strong Ales

Haz you not had Orval? It's not hoppy at all, by American standards. It is, however, delightfully bretty!

That was the words of the author of the article not my description of it. I was just making fun of it as they call it out as best Trappist because of hops

Been to Ye Old Chershire Cheese, Auberge de l’ange Gardien, and Cantillon not to bad ha. Absolutely love all those places. Fresh Orval can be surprisingly hoppy and bitter (not on a West Coast IPA bitter, but it is certainly noticeable). Petite Orval is amazing as well.

The #1 experience is to “sit where ****** once roamed and drink lager”? Yikes.

Yeah, yeah -- already been established that the author has no real clue of significant or important history. We've discounted the Eagle's Nest as a beer destination -- let's focus on the others.

Yeah that's extremely fucked tbh. "Hey guys, wouldn't it be cool to drink where one of history's worst monsters used to drink?!?!" Super poor taste

As said, if only as a "spit in the eye" to a murderous dictator who was overthrown. The 101st Airborne did it.

Sometime soon after the war Groucho Marx made a trip to Europe with Berlin as a stop. He asked to be taken to the rubble of ******'s bunker where he proceeded to dance on the tyrant's grave. Best "spit in the eye" story I ever heard.

That it is indeed a good one. I'm all for spitting in the eyes of these tyrants, might as well have a beer while doing so?? :beers: Regardless, this is a solid list with a few places I haven't heard of that I may have to stop at if I'm ever in Europe for travel

I wonder how old this list is, since Doyle's in Boston has been gone a couple years now. |The property was sold off, and I believe it's being turned into condos or something. They're talking about a revival, but it'd still be a couple years before anything happens on that front. And it won't be the same.

That's the "catch" in the listing of things one put on their Bucket List. Always add something that is not possible to do - then - you just don't die. Simple.

I'm not comfortable with the Eagle's Nest being the number one
destination. Seems like these people have an agenda other than beer

The link in post #31 says Old Dolf only visited the place about 17 times, so it's not like the place is completely imbued with his spirit. And, some of the pictures I've looked at show some majestic views.

But still. As a history buff, I'd like to visit. I think I'd pass on a beer though. But maybe, since I was there......

He very rarely drank any booze at all and any cigarettes or cigars was strictly prohibited around him.

Y’all get now why he was that much of a psychopathic f*ck?

Thanks for the list OP. Have only been to two but now the Gravity Bar in Dublin is on my target list for our trip this coming spring!
