I kegged my first batch a couple of days ago. I want to use the set it and forget it method for my first time around. I put the keg in the fridge overnight to cool down to 37 degrees and set it at 10 psi for an American Ale carbonation level. Here is my question...I made sure to purge and burp my keg to get out oxygen and make sure everything was hooked up correctly. When I did this outside of my refrigerator everything worked fine. I believe I read somewhere that you should consider burping your keg once everyday just to release some of the oxygen. Yesterday when I went to do this I pulled the pin and no sound came out. I played around with everything to ensure there were no leaks and set the keg and regulator up again outside of the fridge. About 10 minutes went by and I tried to burp it again and there we no issues. I put it back in the fridge overnight, when I woke up this morning I tried to burp it one more time and nothing came out again. As before I let the keg and regulator get set up outside of the fridge and it worked fine.

To clarify the regulator co2 tank and keg are all in the fridge at 37 degrees. This is my first time using the co2 tank so it is full.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Why won't the keg make a sound when I pull the pin inside of my fridge? Am I over burping my keg?

    Thanks for the help.

Being inside the fridge vs. outside should not make a difference. If you have co2 running at 10 from your tank to your keg you should be able to hear gas coming out of the pressure relief when pulling the pin.

You sure your tank is turned on properly in the fridge? Is your gas line properly installed on the "IN" post?

Also burping your keg every day is not necessary.

Thanks someone else told me to stop burping daily, so I will. The line is definitely in the right location. Is there any chance the beer holding the co2 hence no sound is coming out of the pin because there is not much in the head space?

No. Co2 should be continuously flowing into the headspace if everything is turned on and at 10psi to boot. If your ball lock isn't pressed down the entire way on the gas post gas won't go into the keg. If possible post a picture of your keg setup. Something seems off here.

I am working on pictures now. Now I am wondering if I am doing something wrong with the ball lock. It is clicking down and snapping into place, but when I take it off the keg and press down on the black nob on the inside of the lock no co2 comes out. I assume this is where the problem is starting.

Yea gas should come out when that black nob is pressed in. So either you have a faulty ball lock or you have an empty tank.

I have a new two regulator system and I just attached the second co2 line. I pressed on the black nob and I heard and felt brief blast of co2. I think it was just a faulty line.

    Should be in business now.
