#2, because with #1 you'd eventually run out of beer to drink.

    Also, Sierra Nevada.

No thinking required for me- #2 easy. Now which brewery will it be? That will require more thought, but Firestone Walker and Sierra Nevada are in the mix. The one I pick will have to have a great representation of Ales and Lagers, both modern and traditional.

I buy cases of Sierra Nevada and love it. This is easy for me. I try tons of new beers all of the time, but hanging out with SNPA has been a nicely worked and economical system. I once used Lagunitas IPA as my staple, but I swear the new Mills River version is awesome and altogether better!

Let's say for the sake of the poll that whatever brewery you choose, it will never go out of business or get gobbled up by a conglomerate or something like that. I'm not so sure I can extend this "frozen in time" aspect to always producing the same beers it produces now, or has produced in the past. Let's say its core lineup as of today doesn't change though; otherwise I think this option could be too limiting.

This is kind of the crux of the question. Would you rather be have a set of "go-to" beers from a single brewery (for me it might be one like Firestone Walker or Founders, but I haven't even decided which way I'm voting yet) that you know will always be good, or would you rather have the opportunity to sample the infinite variety of beer out there, but only be able to taste each beer one time? It goes to our different reasons and approaches to drinking beer, which is why I thought it would be interesting.

I went #1 with the idea that the first time I buy the beer it can be like a 12 or 6 pack, whatever format it's sold in. If it's only bombers then it would be one bomber. Now if it's only 1 single bottle like 12 or 16ozs or one draft pour then it would be #2.

I find that to really appreciate a beer you need it a few times under varies circumstances.

As much as I love certain breweries, I think I would eventually get bored with the limited variety. Choice #1 for me!

1: My brewery would be among Deschutes, Firestone Walker, Unibroue, or Chimay.
2: I always wonder about the "what if's". What if the next brew is the best one ever?
3: I'll help you out; you're going to vote #2, and you're brewery is Fremont. No way you're giving up Cowiche, B-Bomb, Dark Star variants, OBR, and all the shelf regular beers.

Nope. A single serving. 16oz pint or 12-16oz can or bottle.

There's thousands of breweries just in America. Drinking just one of each beer, from each brewery would take a long time. Plus, breweries are constantly making new beers, so that ups the number. Once you finish America, you have Canada. Then Central America, South America, Australia, Asia, Africa, and finally, Europe. That'll keep a beer drinker busy enough.:grinning:

Thought this would be a blow out for #1, get to try all styles and all beers ever brewed once?! im in! Interesting results none the less.

There's no hiding my love for Fremont, but here's my dilemma. I really like Belgians, gueuzes, saisons etc. So if I went with 2, I would have to be able to choose a brewery that really nails those styles as well as IPAs, barrel-aged barleywines and stouts, the occasional lager/pilsner, and probably a half dozen styles I can't think of right now.

Which no brewery (that I can think of) does. Fremont hasn't gotten into the Belgian styles too much, yet, but maybe when the new joint opens, they'll have some wiggle room.

Easy #2 for me, initially Founders would have been my choice, but those who mentioned FW got me thinking that might not be a bad option. Obviously Stone also comes to mind. But obviously there are a few breweries out there that make a solid lineup of a variety of beers that would work for me.

My girlfriend chose option #1, pushing her more into the ticker category than I thought, but I also believe she's regret her choice eventually.

    @draheim - Can we share??

#2. But I would like 6-months lead time for my field research to pick the brewery.
