That's a pretty terrible list.

 

Jolly Pumpkin is the only brewery deserving of its spot on that list.

sometimes i wonder how much of a beer advocate the person/people who make these lists actually are...

 

I thought I knew a little something about beer, 50% of the breweries on there I've never had and a few I've never heard of. I suck! =>

 

I think an easy argument can be made that not 1 of those top 10's are even the best in their own state. JP might be the exception, as I think it comes down to them and Bell's for MI.

 

Eh, maybe Great Divide as well.

 

Allagash is legit

 

A real BA wouldn't use a slide show.

 

Should be titled:

"Here Are 10 Craft Breweries That I Have Tried"

or, he could have just linked his non-existent BA Profile "Hads"

Maybe he meant to say "Top 10 Breweries that sent me free beer so I'd make a Top Ten list". I'm gonna make a list called "Top Ten stupid Top Ten lists".

 

Uhhhhhh, what? Stone is 100% absolutely deserving to be on that list. Allagash, Jolly Pumpkin and Great Divide could all have arguments made on their behalf. Are any of those 3 on my list? No, but an argument can be made.

I think if we all wrote down our own top 10 lists of breweries we've VISITED, we'd have pretty different lists. I'd put The Brew Kettle (brewpub in Cleveland area... Great Lakers know this one) on mine, even though I'd agree that it's probably far from the top 10 of all breweries in America.​

I was being mildly facetious, but I'll admit that I find it shocking that not a single JP beer is in the top 250.

 

Well you're post really just helped facilitate my response showing how wtf this list is.

Why bloggers feel the need to frame their current likes and dislikes in top 10 list format is beyond me. If this guy had simply written this as "here's some breweries I've been digging lately" then those who know about beer could appreciate it more.

Instead of saying "wtf was he thinking?" we'd be saying "Hey I hadn't heard of Blue Corn. Thanks for the heads up."

 

Click the "microbrewery" link on the first page and it takes you to another top brewery list. It's like Inception, but with random guys making pointless lists.

 

Props to Bozone. Right down the street from me.
