If I'm just being anal about this, feel free to say so, but it drives me nuts that less than half of trade posts follow the ISO:FT format. I just did a quick count of the latest 100 posts and 56 of them were listed as FT:ISO. Listing the trades backwards is a waste of time, because if I don't have your ISO, it really doesn't matter what you have FT. There's a reason why it's ISO:FT.

This is even more troublesome when browsing the forums on mobile, since unless you have a TV in your pocket or view your phone in landscape, you only see half of the title of posts.

Any chance we can get a friendly reminder sticky in the trading forums to remind people it's ISO:FT and not FT:ISO?

I think this has beed discussed in the past, but its not a rule people list in the format of ISO/FT , its more of hopefully they list specific beers they are looking for in their ISO/FT. Some people won't read the rules, some people have their own take on the rules. If some people don't even read the rules of trading what makes you think they would take the time to read a sticky? Long story short we can suggest how people format their ISO/FT but half will do what they want anyways. Sorry, no system is perfect, but i think ours is pretty good.:stuck_out_tongue:

IMHO a much more annoying problem is people posting threads in the IP Trade forum without giving any additional hint of the location in the thread title, forcing you to go in and read the thread to figure out if it's in your area.

there should always be at least a region in the title ,its gray, if its not there report it and we will add it.

I think he meant additional info beyond the region tag. It is pretty annoying when seeing "Mid-Atlantic" for example without specifying Philly, NY, NJ, DC or more specific location. You in Philly and click on the post only to find out that it's for NYC. It's even worse when that isn't specified in the post itself and you have to ask.

I do agree though that we don't need sticky or more rules, especially with formatting. I cannot imagine the scale of enforcement and outrage.

Im not sure what that would take, maybe suggest it in the help section of the site, i assume it takes some type of programing to do that, interesting idea.

I'm actually not suggesting to add anything at all to the system since it will be way too much, just that if people post an IP trade, they should be mindful of specifying a more specific location. Most people do, fortunately.

Yep, that's exactly it. I think the easiest way to handle it might be to add an additional text box to the form for more specific location info when posting in that forum, and then automatically prepend what's entered (maybe bracketed by "[ ]") to the thread title, but it would require some additional coding.

A persons city and state used to be in their profile. I don't know why the city disappeared. But it would solve this issue to have it back.

That would do the trick. Having the city would also help a lot in other contexts, eliminating a ton of "Where are you in PA/TX/WI/WhateverState?" posts and making it easier to connect with other local BA's.

This might have come up in conversation already, but is there any way we could make an unofficial rule/suggestion to put the trade offer in the body of the post in addition to the title alone? When viewing the trade posts on the mobile version, I can see "FT: Fou Foune, DL, HT, ZD, 3F ISO: T..." and then the body text just says "title says it all".

I can't see the whole title. Can we post the full trade offer in the text area?

    Edit: (merged / thank you)

Better solution would be to fix the mobile app. Is it really to much too ask to wrap the text on the thread title? Still a bit too clunky to use.

Prior to Feb 2012 it was, but many didn't use the city field properly. We have no plans of adding it back, but we might explore zip code down the road.
