Anyone find anything that they’re particularly excited about this Black Friday weekend?

I found three things that I’m probably a little too excited for:

4 more Ball Lock Kegs: trying to find ways to shorten some beer days, this was too obvious of a choice. Still keeping the bottles, but with 6 Kegs I should be able to keep up my inventories better and get some multi purpose future expansion opportunities. With a new little one on the way, my wife was okay with this. Also between bottles and kegs I could potentially have 14 batches ready to go, which should be fairly good reserves/payment for help.

Carboy Heater: nothing else seemed to work quite right for me, don’t need it all that often, but when I do, I hope this helps.

AIH Wunder Hops: $8 for 1 lb of hops, not going to pass that up, certainly will find a use for whatever is in the mystery packs.

Anyone else have anything that they’re excited about (even if it’s too much so)?

Excitement level is under control, but Amazon had a BF special on Inkbird temp controllers that was too good to pass up. My old Rancos are long in the tooth, so the deal was good, even as a standby. The real excitement starts when the old units melt-down and the new-fangled ones are pressed into service. If anyone's interested, looks like they'll stay 20% off for CM.

I upgraded to an Anvil Foundry 10.5 gallon system. I currently use the 6.5 gallon system and it’s tuff to get more than 9# of grain in it. I’ve had about 13# but my mash conversion was not good. Also bonus is I had join a stock app called Robinhood and received a free stock from Microsoft $200 valve. I traded up until I had enough for the Anvil. So it was essentially free. Plan to use the 6.5 as a HLT and move on from the propane. Cheers guys

Yeah, that’s how that works, certainly will update with what I actually got. Haven’t received yet. Also plan to purchase some backup for the first recipe in case the sniff test fails.

I bought a BrewJacket Immersion temperature controller on black friday. AIH offered them for $150. The Peltier technology (to me) was always sketchy and doesn't work as well as advertised. But for small temperature deltas I think it can be useful. I just set it up for a test run to see how low I can get it to go for lagers. I think it could be handy when I don't have room in one of my coolers for a fermenter.

Please report back with your results.

I would imagine that if you had a cool area of your house (e.g., unheated basement) this would be helpful here.

    Cheers!

Craigslist find: 15-gallon kettle by Spike Brewing. Been hunting a ‘deal I couldn’t refuse’ for almost a year.
Now I just need to figure out the best way to clean it since it doesn't fit in my sink.

I have a 15 gallon kettle as well, and for some reason this never occurred to me. I instead have been cleaning this outside regardless of the weather. This simple post was a revelation to me, then I immediately felt like an idiot. But I can say, I don't move this around more than I have to.

First thought was, "Anybody can do it that way!"

Not very dirty at all. The guys ad said "next best thing to new" and he was right. Glad for that because a pressure washer would blow it down the mountain (plus my outside water is shut off for the winter). Might run a hose from the sink to outside, using the sink-to-garden hose adapter that has heretofore been reserved for the immersion chiller.

.....and I began searching for hand-held shower attachments.

How is it? Kinda a crazy idea. Good if you like playing around with recipes but none of the physical labor.

So far so good, no issues yet that some of the beta testers were experiencing. Yea, plan is to develop recipes and play with ingredients, still brewing with my 2.5 gal setup.

I probably have the ideal cleaning setup for big stuff. My wife owns a boarding kennel and the grooming room has a bathtub with a restaurant style sprayer attached to the faucet for washing the dogs. I wash everything there in the winter, still use the hose outside when it's warm. Lugging stuff around is not fun but better than cleaning in crappy conditions.

I got a BeerMKR (Kickstarter backer with a two-year wait here, also); unfortunately it went tits up on my first run - faulty temp sensor. They're sending me a new one; fingers crossed it works out.

I just bought a low, wide 6 gallon stainless hotel pot for sparging. Sparging has been the Achilles heel of my process since the beginning, and I think I have rigged up a system that should greatly improve my efficiency.
