I'm very familiar what's around the Harrisburg and York area and even Lancaster. But I would like to know if there any good beer bars (beside ABC) or places to buy beer in or around Gettysburg.??

Tommy's pizza is decent for the area (they even had hopslam on tap back in January).

Norland Pub over in Chambersburg is pretty decent as well, if you don't mind a bit of a drive (and the cigarette smoke filled bar area).

Second Tommy's Pizza! Great people....they are working hard to bring great beer to the forefront in G-Burg.

I think The Pub has a few craft taps. Or maybe just Sam Adams. I can't really remember. I haven't been there since college. I vaguely remember seeing the Blue Parrot Bistro having some craft bottles though I have never been there.

And to continue with the Chambersburg theme, there's also Good-Ta-Go, which has around 30 taps and a nice takeout selection.

Thank you all on your recommendations. On a side not. This is what a out of towner suppose to do when they are not familiar with the area. Always ask the locals. :-)..

All the bars/restaurants in the center of town are good, breakfast at the Lincoln Diner across from the RR station is a must...every morning.

I haven't been to GB since 2003(?) but along Von Steinwehr near the Cemetary was a good place called DBAs.

    What to do?

I would be sure to visit the Cavalry Battlefied, east-ish of the town.

Be sure to get to get to the Cashtown Inn out on the Chambersburg Pike, AP Hill's HQ early in the battle...great place. There are several other key sites on the Pike, several of which serve beer.

Make sure you visit Cemetary Hill, the strongpoint of the Yankee positions and likely Lee's main objective throughout the battle. There are also several other "hills" in its vicinity which need to be visited.

Be sure to visit Oak Hill too, northwest of the town. You can get a good view of much of the first day's battlefield.

You also need to get behind and along Seminary Ridge, important Reb positions on the 2nd and 3rd days. And of course Cemetary Ridge, the Angle and Bryan Farm.

GB is a big battlefield, you need several weeks to do it right. If you don't have that much time and have never been there before then hitting the highlights will have to suffice.

    Enjoy, KP.

    BTW: GB gets really hot.

@knightlypint Thank you very much on the info. I'm a little of a history buff. But want to cram in some good beers doing it on my travels.

Gettysburg was great. Just to short would of been nice to have a week to really into what happen at that battle. Tommy's Pizza is a cool spot. The food was great and a real good beer selection. The had Founders Porter, Duclaw's red ale which Duclaw enter PA market last month. And they had a beer from Spring House brewery from Lancaster. Far as I'm concerned the taplist was spot on. Cheers..

    Glad you enjoyed GB.

I knew you'd enjoy the beer too, considering there isn't much else there other than the battlefield I guess the bars/restaurants make a point of always serving great beers.
