I've never had a non-alcoholic beer. I really only know of O'douls. That looks like piss water to me. Are there any good NA beers? Is the style limited to light lagers? Just curious about the style.

There are NA versions of a few German weissbiers like Franziskaner and Erdinger that aren't awesome, but are much better than the standard NA's.
Haake Beck is pretty common and at least one friend of mine that only drinks NA swears by it.

I was thinking with the recent rise in craft beer, that maybe someone has made a decent one.

Marke Clausthaler is my favorite. Kaliber by Guinness is pretty good too. Especially with food.I don't drink them very often any more.

They prefer if you don't drink beer during NA meetings.

I was going to suggest these as well. They are actually not terrible. Not as good as beer, but they are interesting and supposedly make an even better sports drink than water.

I've gone the NA route when I was DD but still wanted to be social with the group....none I have found are good. Some are tolerable, but just barely.

So instead now I just get a six pack of Oarsmen or something similar and crush a bottle of water in between each one....comes out to be about the same to me.

On the shelf at Fischman Liquors & Tavern in Chicago. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds promising.

The versions of Birell brewed in Australia (by Cooper's) and in the Czech Republic get good reviews but aren't exported. US breweries used to brew it under license ("from the original Swiss Formula" or something similar read the labels) and it was my favorite, when brewed by C. Schmidt's and F. X. Matt. It was quite hoppy for ANY US malt beverage of the era, alcoholic or near beer, and boasted on the label the use of Brewer's Gold hops.

Used to be commonly found in the sorts of "health food/vitamin stores" one finds in malls, and larger grocery chains. It hit the spot if someone dragged you to a mall. I always said that it tasted like "iced hop tea" while many other NA's tasted like club soda with half a teaspoon of malt syrup stirred in.

I think Heileman eventually got the contract (before it disappeared from US shelves) and seem to recall people complaining it had lost its hop nose and bite. (Heileman wasn't too keen on hops. They ruined McSorley's, too.)
