It's looking more and more like I'll be moving to Juneau soon. Just wanting to get a little advance info on the beer scene....
Why yes, that would be me and as far as I know, might be the only one. Hangar on the Wharf is probably the best bar we got. The Island Pub across the Channel in Douglas is good and has some of the best food in town. McGivney's is decent in the Valley. Viking Lounge is decent. Triangle Club is good. Breeze In is where I get most of my growler fills and has a pretty good selection of brews and is within walking distance of Alaskan Brewing Company. Percy's is the only place in town we can get Southern Tier and a limited amount of Victory brews and they got some other rare finds there as well. Thibodeaux's is even half decent at times as they always seem to get Pumking by ST but nothing else, weird, but that's how they roll. Hopefully that helps. I'm always looking for more BA's and/or just beer drinkers comin' over and doing some tastings. Cheers! Adam
thanks for the input! so, is Breeze In the best bottle shop as well? Are there other growler options?
In my opinion, what I have found so far is that is it, however, one can find some rare finds at Percy's as well. ABC does growlers, but one has to have an ABC growler due to growler laws. Here are the current growler options there. http://growler-station.com/gse005-breezein/ They will also fill 1/2 growlers/howlers/growlettes, whatever they're called these days and will do these 2 liter plastic containers they call the beast, but since its just me around here these days, I never get those and actually when I had some peeps, we actually thought a growler was enough between us. Hmmm....trying to think of some other things. Baranof Island Brewing Company's beers are cheaper here from what I've heard of in the Northern part of our state. We get Haines Brews on tap at Hangar on the Wharf and The Island Pub. I haven't seen any Skagway Brews yet. Denali, Kassik's and Kenai River brewing companies show up here quite often, but I don't see HooDoo, Broken Tooth and Glacier Brewhouse stuff. Hope that helps. Cheers, Adam
