Yeah yeah yeah I know. It's a frat-boy shit show on the weekends and beers aren't the greatest ever.
The Specialty Tent Beer lineup looks pretty decent though and I think it's a well run festival overall.
I'll be pouring first shift on Wednesday. My chance to pay back a little to the beer community.
    Will anyone else be there?

Of course. I go every year, and am thinking Wednesday looks like the best day to run by. Hope to see you there Larry.

I love the fact that a certain Bham brewery is sending two beers, both of which I have been enjoying the last few days.

I'll be there Wednesday, and that's probably it. Beer list has at least 10-15 I am very interested in. Speciality/International tent has been pretty good the past few years IMO .

I'm assuming it's the same brewery (with the same couple) that always attend the event? :-)

Pretty exciting week to be in Portland. As if there's ever a dull week to be in Portland. @psweendogg take note

@NWer We definitely plan to check out the event at Bailey's! Finally had a chance to take a quick look at the OBF Main Tent and Specialty Tent offerings. There are some outstanding options on there. Since we're only going to be there for such a short time, we will probably drop by the specialty tent area first. Then, we will probably just continue on to the South Tent before moving on our way. Definitely looking forward to it.

Just a quick "oh by the way," for those who are planning to attend OBF.

There is a lot of construction going on in downtown Portland right now, and throughout the summer, one lane of Naito Parkway in the north bound direction is closed to traffic by the park (this is the road that runs right in front of the park where the festival is held). That can create some pretty significant traffic problems at the best of times, and I would expect that during the festival, it's going to be very slow going, especially during peak hours. To add to the fun, Morrison Bridge is closed during the entirety of the festival, and I believe that includes bike and foot traffic as well. In the past I would always park over by HOTD, and then walk over Morrison to the fest (free parking and no more than a 10 minute walk). That's not an option this year.

Moral of the story... try to use public transportation if at all possible, but otherwise be sure to plan ahead and expect likely delays due to very bad traffic.

Good to know! Decided to take the train down so will be carless. Figured its a pretty easy city to get around and not planning on going too far out of downtown.

Curious to see how they schedule the tappings in the speciality tent. Apparently untappd will send updates when something new is tapped

I love OBF. I understand a lot of people gripes with it and often agree with a lot of them, but I find it a lot of fun.

Will be supervising Friday and drinking Wednesday night and Saturday day until the crowd gets to big which is usually 2-3ish.

Yeah for people who haven't been to the fest I HIGHLY recommend using alternative transportation to get there. Walking, biking, busing, MAXing, or anything else to avoid taking a car down there.

Is Bham enjoying an honorary Oregonian status?

We pour at OBF every year. Might be the only time all year we're in OR.

Man, I hated the Caldera TIPA, but the other beers you list were among my favorites as well, though the Upright saison was almost too tart for me (in terms of lagers, the Lakefront Wisco lager was my favorite of the fest by far). I didn't try the Rogue BA stout or the Eel River beer. Note to folks at Maui Brewing. Mango, nutmeg and clove really doesn't mix all that well, so maybe deep six the mango hefe you brought/made.

Burnside's strong ale was also a pleasant surprise for me, and I liked the IPA's by Ancestry and Sierra Nevada as well. Fathead's Touristo saison was tasty as well I thought.
