Any recent reports on Rare?

Thought it was 2009 as well. Had one a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. Immediate top 5 for me.

 

Its 2008 aged 2 yrs in pappy 23

 

Says on the box that barrels were filled in 2008.

 

As they were for BCBS 2009. 2008 went in barrel in 2007.

 

Well it's all subjective. While they didn't state it, nor do I think they put this much thought into their statement, someone could easily state that in their opinion, a beer is perfect in the current state it is in, and that while age while not necessarily make it worse, it will not make it better . . . to their palate.

 

This is all subjective. I thought Rare was not especially amazing considering what you have to go through to get it. Too sweet. I prefer regular BCBS.

 

Had rare on july 29th. It was my one and only bottle, and I was completely floored by how good it was. Paired it with a home-made Tiramisu, and it was perfect.

 

What??? You traded four bottles away? For women right? Cause then it would make sense, yeah, I am sure you traded them for dates with hot girls!

Don't mean to split hairs here Mr. Stoutfest but isn't it more likely Rare (and all barrel aged beers) are carbonated after they are released from their barrels?

I don't have a 2008 on hand to confirim, but I believe the label claims the beer spent 100 days in the barrel, so the 2008 BCBS would have been put into the barrels in 2008, the same year Rare was added to the barrels. Hard to believe BCBS only spends 100 days in the barrels though.
