So I've been accumulating my cellar for about 2 years now. and in the last month or so I've been making it a point to start clearing it out. I've noticed on a bunch of the beers that they have a slight sour smell to them and slight sour in the taste. I've found as the beers warm up, the taste improves and the flavors come out but im sure this is not normal. Im really afraid that this has something to do with my cellar which would mean that a good amount of beers are now bad which would be terrible. Has anyone else experienced this? My cellar/basement stays pretty constant 50 degrees so im not sure what would cause this.

We'll need more information. NAme some of the beers that you've aged, for starters, and how long each was aged (unless they are all 2 years old).

had a track 10 that was a little over a year, a vanilla BA framinghammer with a year on it, a you enjoy my stout from like 2 months ago, a ten fidy with about 3 months on it. I was trying to pick different ones from different times and all of those had a slight sour taste. this weekend ill try some older ones around the 2-3 year mark to see as well.

I had the same experience a 2015 you enjoy my stout. Unusually high carbonation, sour, and thin body. Based on my experience from prior batches, I'm assuming some of the barrels used in 2015 carried a bad bug.

I've had bad experiences recently with some cellared Lost Abbey beers, Agave Maria in particular.

What you describe is something that usually begins before bottling. It is really coincidental that all of the beers you listed would taste that way. Since Ten Fidy is in a can it's unlikely that your problem is something funky in your cellar. Even still not a bad idea to wipe down your bottles and tops of cans before opening them. A diluted bleach solution wouldn't hurt, just wipe it dry before pouring.

Just troubleshooting here, but did you buy all of these beers from the same location? Did you pour beer into the same glass as a sour tasting one without washing it?

I doubt your entire cellar is afflicted so don't panic just yet.

yeah ive bought from many places over various periods of time and drank from different glasses. I haven't wiped the tops down before opening so I will definitely try that. I drank a relatively new beer (3 months) this weekend and it was perfect so so hopefully that's a good sign. Will probably try a firestone next weekend. Thanks for the input!
