I didn’t search long, but curious if there have been any prior threads regarding where to buy brewery glassware online. Few breweries sell‘em online and I’ve lost some glasses to permanent soap scale (Detergent phosphate regulations) or breakage over the years - ones that I may never make it back to the brewery.

So looking for past threads, good websites, etc.

This can also be a thread for cleaning or keeping clean glassware. I’ve tried everything up to industrial vinegar (30%+) to no avail.

Can't help you much right at this time, but soap scum can be easily dissolved with CLR.
I've gotten many of my Euro glasses at Global Beer's website.

That permanent soap scale is often etching, and if it is you're out of luck. If the vinegar didn't work, it probably is. CLR is worth trying though.

If you need brewery specific glassware then I may suggest ebay for a safer at home shopping option, if you aren't worried about that so much, then I suggest thrift stores like Goodwill because they have all kinds of glassware donated. I've seen and purchased a lot of brewery glassware from Goodwill.

Ah, hadn’t thought of that. And yes the CLR was my first bet and didn’t work. Do you know if the etching is from the dishwasher/detergent or the slight acid of beer over time? I imagine I could avoid the prior by sticking to hand washing only.

Dishwasher soap will create a hazy appearance on glassware, but I think hardness of your water can also be a factor.

I can't say for sure, but I suspect the acidic nature of the beer can also permanently mess up a glass. I experienced markings on one glass that suspiciously looked like lacing. I'm guessing that I neglected to rinse that glass one night and the lacing left its mark. My procedure nowadays for glasses that I care about is to rinse right away and hand wash if I have time then, or at least asap later.

I would guess the detergent. The last time I had etching was after I had a water softener installed. Apparently I didn't cut back enough on my detergent to offset the softener, and essentially the excess detergent started attacking the glass. Kinda sucked, but damn I'm spending almost nothing on dish detergent now.

Asking bartenders nicely at bars is often a good way to get glasses.

I should go to that a little more often, my glassware is pretty much not beer clean coming out of the cabinet.
