Saw the ad in last months' magazine and wondered if the product was worth the price. $16 for a bottle opener seems pricey.

    free ones open bottles too.

And that sums up my thoughts on a 16 dollar opener.

Hit up Hotmetal1 for the best openers. He is in a couple facebook groups I am in. Some of the stuff he does is awesome.

I believe I have seen some of his work in the WBAYDN threads.

I 100% think that it is worth buying. It is by far my favorite bottle opener and the only one I use. The reasons to buy it are:

    1) Does not harm caps. Great for a person (such as myself) who collects them.
    2) Magnet on the opener so it sticks to the fridge and holds released bottle caps.
    2) Easy to use
    3) One hand operation
    4) Unique

No I am not a salesman. Just a big (beer) advocate. I would recommend you buy it.

    Cheers!

If you collect bottle openers, collect bottle caps or have a swimming pool full of money in your house...buy it.
Otherwise, there are countless free objects you can use to open a beer bottle.

IMO, that's a really cool device and I'd say buy it. I make wall mounted bottled openers out of exotic wood and inlay them, also pick openers up from time to time that I like (because I'm really in to openers and Hotmetal absolutely rocks it with his openers!).

It's a personal judgment call and "there's a thousand ways to skin a cat", some people just like to go about it in different ways.

How many beer glasses does one own? (Most of us have more than one, I would guess.) I'd buy it for the coolness factor.

If you like it, buy it. One could argue that you can just use a quarter on an opener or the other end of a corkscrew to not harm the cap, but one could also make the argument that why go through all that trouble when you can get a nice opener that you can just stick to the fridge and be done with it.

For the record...I currently use a quarter....because I don't have a wine opener like that and I am too busy spending money on other things like beer and glasses. haha

I'm positive that we've all spent more money on things that were less useful. $16 is pretty reasonable I'd say

I've got a couple of them. Use them all the time and they are by far by favorite opener. Easy one handed use and does not damage caps.

I bought a few more of them as gifts for friends who are also into craft beer.

I use several different bottle openers with a quarter to keep from damaging the bottle caps. I also use a paint key. 70 cents at the local hardware store. Doesn't damage the caps and the other end is great for wax topped bottles. That being said, the collector in me is begging to buy this. Glassware, bottle openers and bottle caps ... where will it end?!?!:grinning:

Even though I can open a beer with a bic, or a butter knife, or even my teeth, I have one and I love it. Super high quality, and the Metal-H version (which costs a couple bucks more) looks great on the side of my fridge. It's definitely worth the money in my opinion, the reason it costs what it does is because it's hand made in the US.

I bought one of these (the wine barrel one) and I love it. It doesn't bed caps, it has a cutter for waxed bottles and it's a project that a dad does with his son. Great stuff.
