they are out of Charlotte and their "over the edge" IPA REALLY impressed me. I wasn't expecting it at all, but their 6 pack box/cans/marketing intrigued me. I ended up getting a 6er of Modus and a 6er of over the edge and found myself passing up modus the rest of the week and taking the over the edge. Anyway, anybody had any of their other offerings? How did yall like the over the edge?

I love it, although I get it mostly for the sweet cans.

The cans are what sold me to begin with. They might be a sleeper!

They make a session ipa called scratch & sniff that was really good.

I've had 3: Over the Edge IPA, I thought was quality, I didn't care for the SilverBack Stout, had too much of a roasted bite to it, and PreGame session, which was good for a style that I'm not crazy about. I'd like to try their Hospitali-Tea, it's brewed with tea and honey

Their cans are pretty cool. Their beers don't blow me away, but I'm always up for trying a new one when I see it. I know they had some quality issues early on, but they acknowledged it and have tried really hard to make things better. It sounds like they do well in Charlotte, but I'd have to defer to someone who lives there for a more "local" take.

Over The Edge is decent for what it is--a maltier, east coast style IPA. I haven't been super impressed with anything else I've had from them. I feel like their beers are price prohibitive, even on draft. They're usually a dollar more per pint than anything else from Charlotte, so I don't try them that often. I also get the feeling that the brewery puts more effort into packaging/marketing than they do the actual beer.

I had Over the Edge on draft, this was a year or two ago. It was ok but I didn't like it enough to order a second pint or seek out cans, pretty much a mediocre IPA. Maybe the recipe has been tweaked since then?

I've had 5 from them - a couple in Asheville around the winter beer festival (Dirty Commie Heathen + No Shame), one on draft at the local Whole Foods in Winston-Salem (Ginger Wh^at?!), and the other 2 in cans (Silverback Stout + Over the Edge). All have been pretty enjoyable. I'm getting ready to pop a Pre-Game Session IPA here in a while.

I live in the area and have had many of their beers. The Tele-Porter is nice. Over the Edge seems to be their best seller - it's pretty easily found on draft all over Charlotte. Probably the best thing I've had by 'em is their 99 scorpion impy pils, brewed with 99 food grade scorpions: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/33258/147801/

All that being said - I'm routing for 'em, but I'm certainly not their biggest fan. I don't care at all for the name of the brewery, I don't like the logo and their taproom leaves me cold.

I wasn't a huge fan when they first opened, but Unknown has since won me over with some inventive beers. Their Imperial Mexican Lager was kinda gimmicky with the scorpions, but I thought it tasted awesome anyways. I've had a pair of really nice imperial stouts from Unknown, too. I'm looking forward to trying their 1.5 Anniversary Wild Ale soon.

I only knew if their over the edge and a few others. I didn't know about the crazy stuff until reading what you guys have said. Now I'm even more intrigued by them. I can see what yall are saying about not being blown away, but I was shocked at how good their IPA was to me. It's pleasantly surprising to crack an unknown (no pun intended) beer and say "if drink this again!" Usually I stick to the well known stuff so, I was pleasantly surprised. Now I just need to get some of their other cool stuff!

I love their Ginger Wheat - a really great easy drinker for a hot day. Didn't they change the recipe for a number of their beers including Over the Hedge? So, if you only had it two years ago, or avoid them due to cost, you might not have the most up-to-date opinion.

As a local, haven't heard of many people that like them very much. I've been there and I've tried a few other times. The beer is average IMO. And they try too hard to be wild and crazy. Not my thing for a brewery. But hey, if you like the beer, drink away.

I've had their ipa and session ipa and while both were good, neither one really did it for me. I had their silverback stout on draft the other night and the flavors were nice but the body seemed really thin and lacking for a stout.

Their IPA is good, but I really dont think it beats Fullsteam Rocket Science, Steel String Big Mon, or anything in that tier. Scratch & Sniff was good not great. Ive never had a beer from them that I would buy again outside of MAYBE Southern Hospitalitea. Escorpion en Fuego was cool, but all gimmick (all sweet, earthy green peppers).

I had Pregame, but I dont remember anything about it. Thats not a good thing at all.
