Went the previous two years (and loved it), but now that the guy who was in charge of their Obscura stuff is gone, don't think I'll bother this year

Is that right? They lost their barrel program guy? If there's a drop off this could be the last good year since the stuff needs to sit on oak for a while, right?

Yeah, last year was the jam... Saw partial list for this year and it includes Obscura Peche. Last year's event was top notch, so I trust they have done their best to maintain the pedigree of their barrel program.

Overall, it was still a very nice event - very chill, proper capacity, relaxed. $30 for 10 pours and a taster glass.

Combined with stops at Third Window, Brew Labs and CASA it made for a nice beer day.

Specific to Dia de las beers - the beers were still quite nice, but last year there were a few absolute standouts in comparison imho. (that's not to say the beers this year were bad by any means, and personal palates etc etc)

It's a cool vibe. Would still recommend. Especially for locals or those who package it with a few other stops.

it was my first time so i can't compare but we had a great time and all enjoyed the beers... i thought they were bright crisp and clean with loads of fruit... well crafted sours but with an obvious lack of funk. Owners and staff were fantastic.

    loved
    Mellifera
    Peche
    Vulpine
    Gypsy
    Are you experienced?

thought Petit Azul and the Goses were very nicely refreshing as was the guava offering (Another Day in Paradise)

Didn't have time for BrewLAB which was a destination, how was it?

Casa was a nice stop again.

Jaffurs winery to cleanse the palate
Los Agaves was the bomb diggy.

Yeah it was a pretty great event. Real casual, real Santa Barbara.
