Had the Big Flats beer from Walgreens and I got what I expected, a bad beer, brewed in quantity and made to make a few bucks. Didn't realize how much World Brews makes. I bought a few cool-lookin beers from Kroger the other night. Tasted them and realized They were not good and not along the style that they were supposed to be. I bought DieselPunk IPA, Tap Room No. 21 Pale Ale and IPA and I bought because the bottles looked cool. I was way disappointed because they were all malt bombs, flat and all tasted the same. Anyone else think they were getting something good and new, and then realize they bought a cheap, mass produced beer from World Brews????..Very Unhappy !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I've seen them around but never pulled the trigger.

"Label Beer" ... they just reached out to me about press samples. That should be an interesting night to say the least. :grimacing:

You could have checked the ratings here before buying it.
You could have saved yourself a couple of dollars

Minhas Brewery is brutal for this very issue in Canada: they seem to unleash a brand new label to the Alberta market about once-a-week, and it's way too easy to grab a random bottle on the shelf to try something new, only to get home and discover from the small print that it's another offering from maybe the worst brewery in North America.

Yeah I don't buy beer based on ratings per say, but I always check the brewer rating to avoid stuff like this. You know something is up when they are rolling in with a 2.81 and they have like 81 beers. Wonder how many of those are the same with just different labels

It's weird because they have specific brands in specific stores (at least to me)
    Kroger - Caguama/Caguama Lite (a Corona clone)
    Harris Teeter - Tap Room
Whole Foods - Four In Hand

That is the Winery Exchange's World Brews subsidiary's business plan:
They supply private label brands to various supermarket, drug, liquor store and other retail chains. Private beer brands were once very common in the US (and still exist for a few chains like Trader Joe's and Costco). If you check the pull down menu in the above link, every brand has it's own website which usually lists the chain(s) where the brand is available. For instance, the OP's Dieselpunk can be found in "Kroger, Fred Meyer, Dillons, Baker's, Smith's, Fry's, Food 4 Less (select locations), QFC, City Market, and King Soopers and is “Coming Soon” to Ralph’s in So. CA" and Tap Room No. 21 has a similar list.

Most of World Brew's domestically-brewed beers comes out of NAB's Genesee brewery - so seeing "Rochester, NY" on a beer label, regardless of brand/brewery name (especially outside of NY state), is reason to be suspicious. Not every label mentions "World Brews" - some use other dba names, like this one for Roscoe's Hop House:

I usually know what I want when I buy beer, but I do buy anything that looks good if it's affordable so it's just a matter of time before it happens to me.

Think of all the people that grab one of these in a grocery store and go damned those people drinking that craft beer, I just don't get it

I've been duped once by Tap Room 21, but never again.

I feel the same way about Saranac, for whatever that's worth. Finally got people to stop buying me their mixed 12-packs as gifts; that took some doing (and not a little bit of assholery). "Look, it's twelve different beers, that's perfect!" Twelve different mediocre beers that are guaranteed not to taste like the style listed on the label, you mean. Pass.

I remember seeing these at Whole Foods in the past and noticed they were very inexpensive compared to everything else in the beer isle. Really odd..

Picked one up looked at it, real cheap design on the label kind of bland, where the heck is this made?!? Couldn't even figure out or it seemed real misleading trying to decipher the label. So that explains everything now.

You know what cracks me up about some of these beers is the lone review in the upper 4's. It is usually by someone who created their account that day, reviewed the beer, then never came back again. Not saying that it is fishy, but...
