I would argue those beers aren’t that bad, and New England IPAs aren’t THAT good as ratings would suggest.

Just to prove how bad that pun is, look at post #30.

Out of curiosity, what makes you say that? I was just taking a look at Bud select 55, and of the nine most recent scores, 6 of them were one's (the lowest score possible). So it sounds like poor scores are a pretty consistent impression (the beer only has 168 reviews, and 634 ratings). I would argue that the consensus score of 43 would be even lower, were the review/rating score not sabotaged by some pretty absurd high ratings/reviews (a number of reviewers have rated Bud Select 55 4.75 or higher - there are even some 5's).

You mean from those of us who actually *like* beer?

In my own defense, I've only reviewed 4 of the beers on the list, and 2 of them have big rDev rankings -- but I haven't reviewed more because those beers are what launched my quest for better beer. Wasted a lot of calories from the late '70s through the mid-80s trying to find beer that was more than, well, maybe not animal excrement, but flavorless dreck.

And the Micro Boom® certainly proved I wasn't the only one.

Seriously man like bud light it’s never gonna be my first choice but is it really the 9th worst beer in the WORLD? I know it’s marketing and all that but
I’m not excusing bud select 55 lol there are some truly dud beers. But I cannot conceive anyone would rather say, all things being equal, Miller genuine draft is one of the worst beers on the planet while others rave about high life as the preferred beer of craft brewers. As far as “we actually *like* beer” the arrogance of such a statement is astounding

Pretty sure that was sarcasm, or just a humorous quip. It was obviously, and intentionally, arrogant.

As for your Miller comment, I don't know what to tell you. I know I didn't give Miller high life a very high score, for the very reasons I set out in my previous post (minimal aroma and not a lot of flavor; I also typically get a seltzer like flavor in macro AALs, which I find off putting and bloating). Would those two beers be on my worst beer list? If there were 250 entrants, probably. If there were 50, almost certainly not. There are a lot of bad beers on the market, many of which are much worse than MGD or the high life.

I can dig it. I also can appreciate that in any ranking something has to come at the bottom. I guess it’s just the descriptors I take issue with. A lot of the beers in the bottom hundred id describe as plain, flavorless, watery but maybe not tasting like actual garbage. And trust me I get there are bad bad beers. But for every Anheuser Busch dud I’ve had something from southern tier, new Belgium or Sam Adams that was actually foul tasting but with the veneer of credibility because of its maker
