I dropped off a prepaid box today for a short, one-day trip to its destination, by way of FedEx Ground. I just tracked it before leaving for work to see if it progressed from Initiated to Picked-Up or In-Transit, since I dropped it off around 12:30pm and it's now 6:00pm.

It still says Initiated, but here's where it gets weird...

    From: Stanford, CA (wrong)
To: Perryopolis, PA (right state, wrong city)
Anticipated ship date: 3/25/12 (yes, 2012)
    Estimated delivery: N/A

It also says it's 1 lb (I marked it as 10 lbs), and that it was sent via Home Delivery (sent Ground).

I triple-checked the tracking number and I entered it correctly. I'm going to sit tight and hope everything works out, but was thinking their system might be glitchy right now and wanted to know if anyone else was seeing weird tracking info.

I have one box going from NC to Cali. I just checked the tracking info and all looks normal for mine. Hope it shakes out for ya!

That happened once to me a few months ago - when I punched in the Fedex tracking # I was given by my trade partner, I got some random box that had been delivered 2 years before (from a town I'd never heard of, going to another town I'd never heard of). Can only assume they recycle tracking #'s after some period of time, and the old tracking info doesn't get overwritten until the box is actually wending its way thru their system.

I've gotten the recycled tracking #'s a couple times lately as well. Usually works itself out after the first leg of it's journey.

I called fedex once when this happened. They said they recycle numbers. Once it gets scanned in it becomes correct. I don't get it but it has happened to me multiple times without a problem

Thanks everyone. I know sometimes there can be a delay with the box info getting to tracking after it's picked up so I'll just give it some time to work itself out.

I had the same terrifying experience earlier this week, but after a couple hours the tracking switched over to the package I sent.
