One of my favorite things about the old forum was that all the responses were on one page. I could just scroll and scroll and read hundreds of responses without having to click to another page. Now when I read a long thread I have to click the back button five times to return to my original spot in the forum. Please bring back the single page thread model.

Having a user-selectable responses-per-page setting would be nice (even if it's not infinite, something like up to 100 would be nice), but it looks like Xenforo doesn't support it. Without the user option, it's unlikely that you'll see huge numbers of responses/page because it's harder on the server.

I never actually liked everything on one page. Got very confusing when there were hundreds of replies. Nesting was nice, but I can see how it could be a problem as well.

Overall, I think it's just something the majority of the users need to get used to. Most forums don't do single pages, so it's not a huge change for anyone who participates in multiple communities.

I personally dislike the new forums, but I like the phpBB style of board. I guess it like anything in life one has to get used to new things. From Time to Time. one assumes everything will be smoother and more seamless as times goes on, its hard to time a home made board and w b site and just stick a piece of commercial software in it. I am sure they will get it figured out one day.

Agree with you there dezibob, I would like the threads to load as they once did. I feel like it made threads flow more like a real conversation and was more user friendly for mobile devices. I would suspect that there are more critical kinks and issues being worked on right now, and that this will probably be addressed in the near future.

It took some getting used to but this system is way better IMO- no more scrolling up and down a thread looking for 'new' response tags, plus the alert system makes carrying a conversation way easier.

I agree with both of these points, but don't you think the lack of nesting makes it harder for someone not already involved in a conversation to get involved?

As far as multiple pages are concerned, I certainly preferred the old model but don't find this particular change to be worth complaining about. If having threads broken up keeps the servers running smoothly, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

For old forum BA users, for sure. New users, not so much. They'll prob. be used to this format.

    30 isn't bad.

I'd rather see somewhere around 50, but I have no problems with 30.

I want one page, nested conversations/indented replies, and the ability to "follow" select forums.

Also, when glancing at the list of forums, it would be great to see a "preview" of the first 5 threads... Like the top page of days gone by.

I'm sure quite a few people don't like the new view, however the new view is the way things are now. The system doesn't support it, the vast majority of forum platforms use flatview and generating threaded/nested views are also resource intensive.

Anyway, there's no going back or changing it so discussing it is kind of pointless.

    Sorry all.
