You think breweries brew one batch of pumpkin beer?

I'm not so troubled by the early release the next season so much as early end to the current season. When I went to the grocery store about to pick up a sixer of summerfest ( theres a nice grain taste to it that i was looking forward to) I saw tumbler instead and was a little sad. I picked up tumbler since I missed it last year, due to waiting to long, so all was good again, but still it more about the early end then the early start for me. It's not a huge deal though.

Edit: tumbler said it was brewed july 7

Octoberfests coming out in August isn't really that early if you think about it. Actual Oktoberfest is in September if I'm not mistaken, so a month early isn't being outrageous. Either way, I can't bring myself to drink these until its at least reading September on the calendar

That's the problem, though, it may not be. Last year I saw the Fall beers (my favorite beer season) coming way too early and then in turn leaving way too early. I, like many others, get into the mood for certain beers depending on the season and what the weather is like...I don't like to drink a heavier fall/winter beer when it is this hot outside. Also, my food choices can be different in the warmer months vs. the colder ones, and I do like to pair from time to time.

And like beerme411 said, the early end to the current season is what troubles me more. Since I love fall beers I would love to see them around for longer, but that simply does not seem to be the case anymore. Plus with the whacky weather we seem to have these days, to me it is more supportive a longer beer season vs. a shorter one.

My store has had Summits Oktoberfest and Autumn Sampler for weeks now. Supposedly they released them early when they ran out of their new Summer Ale.

Unsure why anyone would ever bitch about awesome brew on the shelf, despite what season it is! WTF?

Already picked up some Pumpking and its delicious as always.. Just seen one Oktoberfest so far and seen the Red Hoptober as well. Still waiting for Staghorn and Tumbler to get in. Im not complaining at all about early fall releases so long as they stay around for a long time.

I really don't like the fall seasonals anyway, so, no tears shed here. Octoberfests---too malty, Pumpkins---yech!

However, I'm still waiting for SN Summer Camp and SA IPA Deconstructed. Maybe I missed them because they were summer releases and came out in January? And wasn't there another SA mixed pack recently with different IPAs? I remember Tasman Red, Dark Depths and some others.

Me too, I absolutely hate Pumpkin Ale's, I haven't had one I've really enjoyed yet, and I've tried a lot.

It looks like you live in Louisiana. Try living in Minnesota and see if you still no longer care about when you drink certain beers.

That's called Hop-ology. I haven't come across it, but I guess I didn't really ever think to look while I was out and about, so... LOL

Care to elaborate? What about living in MN would change my drinking habits? The weather? We do actually experience 4 seasons here in Louisiana, despite popular belief, if that is your thought..

Are we really going to compare the differences in seasons between Minnesota and Louisiana? Seriously? And I grew up in Pensacola, and have seen it snow in Pensacola, so I know there are seasons in that area. But until you experience an entire week where the high does not get above zero, there is no comparison.

And this is not an attack on your state or drinking preferences, but every time I see someone say that they don't care about drinking seasonals during certain seasons, they are from a much warmer state.

I saw Sam Adams Octoberfest this past Friday. I enjoy when Fall seasonals come in early, because I really like them. I love pumpkin ales. There's something about drinking them on a crisp Autumn day, while looking at the leaves changing on the mountains. Plus it let's me know that the heat of Summer is heading out the door soon. That makes me happy, since I hate really hot weather.

I don't give a shit about drinking seasonals during certain seasons. I live in St. Louis and grew up in Chicago. Pretty sure we're a bit warmer than Minneapolis, but we often get weeks where the temp is hovering in the single digits. It was 95 degrees here Friday (a bit of a cool spell, for what we've had), and I enjoyed the hell out of some Creme Brulee. I don't see why the weather makes much of a difference. I have this new fangled invention called an "air conditioner" and also have a heater in my home. I can make it whatever temperature I desire regardless of the outdoor conditions.

I picked up a 4-pack of Imperial Pumpkin Ale by Weyerbacher. Had 1 last night. Delicious!
