Interested to see what the interest level is for this event. Read some of the posts from the previous stops. It seems like most of the breweries bring their basic stuff. Also, according to the Russian River Twitter feed, it looks like they will not be in Chicago despite being on the roster. Would have loved to have tried Pliny and Supplication on draft.

Worth the cost and the trip downtown? Better off staying local and go the the Highwood Craft Beerfest the folllowing weekend (Next door and a lot cheaper)?

    Look forward to your thoughts.

    Cheers!

Heading over. Should be a good time. I will try a lot of WI and IL breweries I have not had. Went to the Sierra Nevada Octoberfest in Chico, and if it is half as good I will be happy.

Not many MI breweries as the Michigan Brewers Guild summer beer fest is Fri and Saturday.

If you want RR on draft, put a trip to Santa Rosa on your bucket list. You will like it.

Notable absences are pretty much ALL of the collaborators. Not sure if it was meant to be implied that the list above is in addition to the collaborators that will be there.

I'm not familiar with 60% of that list - mostly smaller IL breweries so far as I can tell. Any stand out ones that I should be sure to check out?

@jjheinrichs here is my short list from Chicago/Illinois to check out:

Lesser know guys in the area:
    - Ale Syndicate
    - Penrose Brewing Company
    - Solemn Oath Brewery
    - SlapShot Brewing
    - Flesk Brewing

These guys don't bottle so they are a must try:
    - piece brewery and pizzeria
    - DryHop Brewers

And these guys are probably on the other 40% that you know of:
    - Pipeworks Brewing Company
    - Half Acre Beer Company
    - Revolution Brewing
    - Goose Island Beer Company
    - Finch's Beer Company

No Russian River or Cigar City. Have had PtE and JA many times, but would have loved to try them on draft. IDK - $75 plus going down to Navy Pier - not sure I will be attending this.

Don't like how they still list RR and CCB as attending when it's just their collaboration beers that will be poured. Pretty misleading.

CCB said on facebook that they'll be at all of the festivals. Not sure if that's just to pour collab beer? They were at Chico and SD with Jai Ali so far as I understand - so it would seem they don't have the same distribution issues that RR does.

What's the deal w/ Navy Pier? Is it a bad venue for this or just difficult to get to?

From the north burbs a bit of a pain. Train downtown then a cab over.

middle brow (this guy) will have our new abbey-farmhouse flowin through a randall with some orange peel & mandarina hops as well as a session sour brown ale we did with transient. Stop by, say hi, and get a free beer advocate high five. But what the F, where's new glarus on that list?

I'm going and have kinda high hopes for good stuff, saw that each brewery is only bringing 2 beers which is a bummer. Hope to not be disappointed.

Had the Randall - outstanding! Also had the saison that Transient had there - probably my favorite of the whole day. I don't recall seeing New Glarus there.

ya they were billed as being there but it was only their beer camp collab was there. I wish I wasn't insanely hung over from a wedding the night before and could of got around to trying some other stuff than transient, upland, and firestone walker. But it looked like a pretty solid fest, I know it was kinda expensive but it looks like it was well worth it. Lots of folks rolled out some nice rarities and it was cool to see all these unfamiliar faces and breweries there, just wish I didnt drink new glarus until 6am the night before and could of enjoyed it. And also a big thanks to all you BA'ers that stopped by and gave me a high five.
