Same here. It was amazing. Best Sixpoint ale yet, and the best tasting coffee beer I think I've ever had.

So - pulled one out last night, and maybe it's because I was looking for it, but I did taste slight green pepper in the 10 month old FBS. Guess I'll only drink these fresh from now on.

I've had Sunday Morning Stout 3 times, and each time this flavor has ruined my experience. Idk if I am just unlucky or oversensitive to it, but it has made me question the adoration for this beer.

Had this issue with a 14 bourbon county coffee I drank recently.

I'll echo what @Urk1127 said, I've had green bell pepper/vegetal flavors from beers use equinox hops, especially if it's mostly or only equinox.

It's a function of oxidation of the coffee flavors. Same principal behind hop oxidation as well. Drink em fresh.

Weird... I've never really had this problem with any coffee beers I've had, be it fresh or aged. Of course, unless it's a high ABV or barrel-aged coffee stout that I wanna age, I always drink it right away! :grinning:

I have a take on this that may explain it. I forgot to clean out my coffee grinder and left it for a few days before grinding more beans for a morning cup. My entire pot of coffee tasted like green pepper and it was undrinkable. I then realized it was from the oxidized/rancid oil in the grinder. So either the coffee beans sat out too long at the brewery, or the oils in the beer oxidized. That's my theory, anyway.
