Try a private mailbox store. They usually recommend UPS. My mailbox guy is very conducive to what I am doing because he has done it. Tell him/her if they ask: liquid bread or fermented yeast and water. Just a suggestion...

The private mail center is the one I believe outed me to UPS. That is why I had 2 packages rejected from them.

Given the context of the situation, scheduling a pickup is advised as the OP seems to have a problem at the dropping off location. The problem occurred after the packages are accepted without questions.

OHHH...Play the field away from Mailboxes etc. Just try going to UPS, don't mark fragile, and make sure nothing rattles. Float them in the box. I'm originally from Seattle, and Washington is one of many states than can receive and ship beer. Like I said, if it's going to a state with stiff laws it might be trouble. 2X that web site I sent you yesterday. My sister has ordered me beer before into Seattle and turned around and flipped it cross-country. Trading beer is not a hobby, it's illegal smuggling! Keeping asking around on BA for more help as well. Little luck, you will pull it off.

Since you put it that way, makes me not want to ever trade again.

I'm not saying don't trade. I just made my first and very large trade and it went 100% according to plan. I'm just advising you of various state laws... It also may have something to do with FedEx or UPS. I asked BA's, beer distributors, mailbox store people, and looked at various web sites before I did my trade last week. Shop around in your spare time, you'll find a Lando or Han Solo to help you in your operation. Now, you want to send me some Portland Zig Zag or an Olympia ??? !!!

In my beer glory the freedom of movement in America is key. I fortunately have 3 other states all less than 10 miles away...

No; ignorance of the law is not a defense, so whether you didn't know it was illegal before but do know, that makes no difference.

Donkster is looking for a reason to not send out his packages. It is sad really. There are so many options besides not sending out owed packages.

I've noticed a lot of folks in Washington and Colorado have been having more problems than usual with shipping lately. My guess? The legalization of pot in those states has led to shipping companies being much more attentive to boxes and thus more "random" searches.

Not much you can do if that's the issue, other than lay low a little while and then try again.

"busy Fedex store" is an important part of what I said. The sort that has hundreds of packages being dropped off every day. IMO, they seem to be too busy to be nosey. The mom-and-pop independent stores that only see a couple packages a day seem much more likely to give them some scutiny (also, their ability to operate might be on the line if they accept dis-allowed packages).

For the same reason, I'd much rather receive at a work address, in a big office building, where the driver is dropping off dozens of packages a day and is too busy to worry about each and every box going on the dolly.

OP said his town only has 1 UPS authorized shipper and 2 FedEx drop off locations. That's part of the context. I drop off my boxes small mom and pop stores in Philly and never an issue. Recommending pickup is not what I normally suggest, but in this specific case, given what transpired and so far known, pickup is the option that makes the most sense.

I had a bottle explode just the other day. FedEx repackaged the box and sent it along to its intended destination sans the broken bottle. I'm assuming I'll get a letter, so I'll post the contents here when I do.

My instance with FedEx was somewhat similar except I wasn't notified it was damage until it was on its way to being returned. Once it got to the local hub it let me know there was a damaged shipment. I believed employees at the local hub decided to help themselves to the beer.

    ***UPDATE***
So sent out 2 boxes people I had received from and one box to my mother inlaw (which only contained clothing). One of the boxes was help up again at the local FedEx hub, for damage. I thought I had packed it pretty well (ziplocs, bubble wrap, trash bag, etc.). We had to go to the local hub and pick it. It was severely damaged. There were 8 broken/damaged bottles in the box. All the bubble wrap had been popped. The other boxes made it to their destination. Had one incoming box (a trade who got his stuff first, last month) it was held up at the local hub too. The weird thing was, the tracking said out for delivery and then said future delivery requested and now it is scanned back in at the hub. Should I be concerned that my address has been marked? Thoughts and helpful posts appreciated. Thanks
