a lot of people dump on NJ, for many reasons, and craft beer is yet another thing to pile on. Our distribution is better than WV, no offense! but a 30 minute drive to my go-to in PA and it is much better, especially Bells and Deschutes to name a few.

in terms of breweries NJ is on the rise; Carton and Kane especially. River Horse, Flying Fish, and Cape May are the other breweries that i frequently try to buy from, i know i'm forgetting a few too

    DC lol

yea we're straight up pathetic. Luckily I got the #3 state literally a hop skip and a jump away, so I guess no harm no foul. It is kind of a pain in the ass to drive 15 minutes to a bottle shop with a great selection, but I get by.

    How is this determined?

In Colorado we have more breweries IN the state than are listed on here. I know Oregon is the same.

I strongly recommend doing your own research into your state's distributors. Talk to your local stores, ask them who their "buyer" is and if you can have their contact info, or at least get the names of the distributors that supply them. If you get to know them, you may be able to influence what they stock.

That website you used does not appear to be comprehensive for my state. Also, it doesn't list any imports.

I will give WV one thing, they are trying. Craft beer was virtually unheard of in this state 4 years ago (outside of Sam Adams/Sierra Nevada) now we're starting to get a better selection in our restaurants and bars. Terrapin has been a big hit since it made its way up here.

It's just the number of breweries distributed to the state per Seekabrew, not a qualitative ranking of "best" distribution.

seekabrew.com is the best site out there right now for determining which breweries distribute to each state. The more that do, the better the ranking. However, the site is _always_ out of date. There are tons of breweries that aren't even listed that distribute their beer.

Overall, they do a pretty good job. If they made money off the site, they would probably update it more frequently.

Are imports really a state by state basis? I can get things like Ayinger, Samuel Smith, Rochefort, St. Bernadus ABT 12, etc... relatively easily.

I travel for work and dread going to Tennessee (Memphis) due to the lack of decent craft beers in bars/restaurants. It definitely makes me appreciate living in Ohio though.
