I know this is probably a long shot, judging from what I know about the area already, but I'll be flying to Lubbock this weekend for my niece's first birthday, and was wondering if anyone here knew of any places to look for beer around there, or what I might be able to find if I am looking? If i remember right, the area pretty recently stopped being a dry county, and there isn't much to the city aside from the university, but I thought I might as well ask the community just in case I might be able to find some hidden gems while I'm down there. Thanks!

My inlaws live there so I spend some time up there.

The best craft bar is a place called Crafthouse. It only has 15-20 taps but they are all craft. Sorta an odd place though.

More college-y would be crickets. They have something like 80 taps but a lot of BMC on there, and more national big beers but they do have some random good stuff.

Next is Bash's which has a good cheap bottle selection. If you go on Sundays, every craft is 2.75.

Triple J's is a brewpub there that does decent beers but they are also relatively cheap.

The only operational brewery is Wicked Beaver which could be better. They have yet to make anything I would buy.

Spec's is your best bet for a store.

Crafthouse Gastropub has the best craft selection on draft.. the food is good.. but it's a gastropub so the prices match the name as far as the food.

I think a small brewery near Tech would do really well... with a nice taproom of course.

Lubbock really doesn't get topic rare of stuff. If you are coming from Missouri, I know I have seen Prairie in Spec's. You may get some dfw stuff as well.

Yeah, I figured I wouldn't find anything really rare, mostly looking for some good stuff I can't get at home

We actually got some Prairie stuff in this week, I got to taste standard, Elizabeth, the and the beer that saved Christmas, the rep said we should be seeing some jester king too, really looking forward to that

Then, I would just wander through the Specs and see if anything really stands out.
