Odd that this post comes.... in summer....Hmmm I wonder if there is any correlation? On the real though, oddly I've come to appreciate darker beers now. Though honestly until recently my palate always preferred lighter beers, so I think it might be time to switch it up a bit. Besides IPA's are all the rage.

The weather has been brutal, and we've only scratched the surface of summer. Can it be cold again?

I drink VERY seasonal, and used to be bored with the summer. But in the last couple years I have been finding some wonderful summer beers and now get excited about them. Otherwise, I agree and don't drink many dark beers in the summer (as I sip on an Imperial Porter).

I don't have fancy infused rye whiskies, but I'm partial to beers that are aged in barrels of said whiskies...

Nope. Just finished a Deschutes/Great Lakes Imperial Smoked Porter and now drinking a Revolution Eugene Porter. I definitely slow dark beer intake but don't stop. It helps that the highs here today were in the mid-50's and its in the low 40's right now.

I think I would be if I drank them all of the time, but I don't on a regular basis.

Nope! Lighter session beers during the day and thick, dark, heavy Imperial Stouts at night for dessert.

Nah I will still drink them this time of year. Plus, in Seattle, it is dark and rains a lot anyway so it can feel like Winter for longer! However I cannot say I would take a winter warmer over an IPA at this point, not yet anyway!

Nope. I get bored with summer beers. I drink them with friends to be polite and then pull out a great dark beer to get myself satisfied.

I'm going to start describing people as beer styles instead of nationalities.

Wouldn't it be "beerist" or "brewist" or something?

Sometimes I think that Summer time is the best time for Stouts and Porters, since they warm more quickly. I don't buy into the whole 'everything should be ice cold because it's hot out.' I'll drink iced tea if I want that.

Definitely not big in to Imperial Stouts in the summer; but yeah--standard Stouts, Porters, Browns, Dubbels are tasty year round. I mean, I'll drink coffee all summer (maybe cold, but whatever  )

Porters I will drink anytime of year since many are actually refreshing. Its the Double/Imperial Russian Stouts that I tend to wean back on.
