Too many beers I still need to try, so I almost always go to the bottle shop with the mind to try something new. I do have some old standards when I can't find anything, though. If I'm in town buying beer I almost always buy NG as the store doesn't really sell anything else that exciting.

I only have a few beers that I constantly buy, 95% are new beers for reviewing. Sometimes new beers are good, sometimes they suck, I have to review them anyway.

This is exactly how I feel. Three Floyds is almost always sold out (even less popular stuff like Jynx Proof, Robert the Bruce, etc.), and I always see people walking in to liquor stores asking about it especially ZD. I'll pick up a six of Alpha King from time to time, but I am just leaving the yuppies to their 12 dollar Backmaskings and Moloko.

I'd say about 95% of what I buy is new to me. My homebrews are my fridge staples.

I'll reach "the point" when I'm dead. Too many new, exciting beers to try, and I've been drinking craft and imports for 25 years!

There are go tos I purchase on a regular basis cause they are tried and true for me,

but there is so much interesting and new stuff out there that "the point" is just never going to happen...

I'm still doing mostly new ones. But I am doing new ones from good breweries (and/or that are well rated) so as to have an expectation that I will like them.

I'm at about a 50/50 split but mainly due to the fact that if I like a new beer, I end up buying more and over buying and so consequently end up drinking "favorites" rather than buy another new beer. It would literally take me like 6 months+ to drink down most of my cellar.

Never reached this point. I would say my buying is as follows 50% Seasonals, 25% one offs, 20% old favs, 5% BMC/Pabst

I'm half way there, years ago I was always seeking tics no matter what, buying stuff I knew was crap just for a tic. Nowadays If I know I love a beer that's sitting beside some crappy euro lager I've never had on the shelf I'd buy the beer I know I'm gonna love and have one less tic under my belt.

I think the problem is that with so many new beers and rotating seasonals coming out all the time you almost have to try new new stuff...but it's not a bad problem to have...

With certain styles like stouts and barleywines, I stick with what I liked in the past for the most part. With other styles like IPA/DIPAs and "sours", there are too many new to me (sours) or new in general for me not to go with the ever expanding variety.

I've reached the point where I just have no interest to go out of my way for a special beer. If it isn't within a 20 min drive, I won't be drinking it. With that being said, I have quite a few great stores in my area. I also am done trading or spending a ridiculous amount on some extra special reserve barrel aged whatnot.

I agree in the sense that I have found beers I like in my area and nothing at this point is worth it for me to have to go outside the circle. I'll still try new beers if they don't gouge and I don't have to jump through any hoops to get.

Nope. 15 years on and thousands of beers drunk and I'm still yearning for that next new flavor.

I am not at the point yet. Just started trading and getting new beers that I have never heard of me keeps me going. Not chasing whales just excited to drink what other people are drinking. I have found several beers this way that even though I may never get the chance to try again have opened my eyes to a whole new world....talking to you Pseudo Sue damn you for being so tasty.
