Not literally of course, but I'm curious if anyone is thinking about putting down a Clown Shoes Pimp for a few years in the cellar. It's got the ABV for it and I wonder if it will get better with age. Thoughts?

I'm reviving this because I'm still curious. It was my first post and got moved down the list quickly...

Have you had it fresh? If not, go drink it up!

I honestly can't see this getting better with some time on it, in my opinion. Sure, the ABV is there and I'm sure it will hold up, but nothing about the style or flavor profile would leave me to believe cellaring would be worthwhile.

I've recently opened one, which is why I bumped the thread. I was just wondering if the heat would fade and if more of the roasty malts would come out.

Well I put a bottle of this away anyway (why? because fuck you) and while cleaning out the cellar recently, I noticed that it was a couple months over a year old. So I just cracked her open to see what happened. And yes I'm aware that it's 10 am and yes I'm also aware that is depressing. But science cannot be confined to convention!

Frankly, I'm glad I let this age. It was delicious! The heat mellowed out beautifully and the mouthfeel was far more full-bodied and smooth. What was left was some real nice chocolate and roasted malt notes with enough bitterness to hold it together. There was plenty of carbonation although the retention was brief and there was not much to the nose. But this was a delightful experiment and I'm truly sad I don't have another year-old bottle to have again...

Ol_Johnny, I gave you a like on this thread because you have been fighting the good fight here. Reviving your dead thread three times takes dedication. Oh, and thanks for letting us know your experiment worked. Nothing like starting this beautiful Minnesota morning off while enjoying the company of a smooth Pimp.
