Curious if the change in hop profile has made this better than last year's version, which I considered a disaster. I just thought it was overly strong, too much unbalanced flavor and too much heat. I'm optimistic that this year's will be improved.

Curious also. I never tried last years, allot of the comments scared me off from tracking it down.

I haven't had it yet but I can't wait...I'm told this is my best chance for finding a bad beer Founders puts out.

Never tried it. Does it come to Chicago suburbs?

Hop profile will not do much for the overly strong or heat.

Yes, but the past couple years it has barely stayed on shelves. From my experiences pretty hard to come by unless you have a bottle shop guy that will hold onto some for you or if you happen to hit a store at just the right time.

If it's anything like the 2011, it's going to be a garlic bomb. Blech.

I'm scared to try this even though I know I'll be buying like 12 of them just because it's Founders. Damn them.

Last year's was pretty awful, IMO.

Bottles are slated for late June/early July in Chicago, subject to change.

The first time I had it (shortly after its release at Founders) I thought it was definitely too alcoholic-tasting. However, I had it a couple of times later in the summer (on draft) and really enjoyed it. So maybe a slight aging improved it?

I had a bottle from 2 years ago, and it was a very good barleywine. I have no idea if last years will age as well, because the recipe was definitely different. We decided at a tasting that last years batch would be called "Onion-Dancer."

Also, if enough people keep asking, I'll jog over to Founders and try this years DDancer.

If it wasn't raining and very cold I might be convinced to walk over. Of course I brought a growler of a homebrew quad to the office so that is calling my name right now.

I wasn't impressed. Wasn't very hoppy had a lot of alcohol -no garlic. I enjoyed the ESB and Oatmeal stout much more
