Moving to Buenos Aires in September. It appears to be intensely wine and spirit centric. I'm excited to learn the wine, but I am beer drinker at heart.

    What are the good breweries?

What kind of bottle imports do you get?

Any good bars, drinking spots in BA?

Any help would be great. Gracias.

I went to Buller Brewing Company when I was in Buenos Aires last November. Their beers seemed good, but then again that was after I was in the country for a week and hadn't had much in the way of good beers. If you want to see what beers I've had while I was there, look at my reviews/ratings between 11/2/14 and 11/8/14. I was in Mendoza for part of the trip so at some times I was more focused on wine.

There is another thread about Argentina here:

Thanks. I saw that thread and posted this originally in the general forum hoping it would get more eyes. They moved it here.

Had an IPA and "blonde" from Grunge last night. IPA was very English and middle of the road. The blonde was very cereal tasting and not the Belgian I was expecting.

    I liked the Patagonia pilsner.

The Antares IPA was surprisingly good and comparable to a US IPA. The Imperial stout was bad. Thin a flavorless. The scotch ale was mild and basic. The barleywine was more like a DIPA, very bitter not sweet at all.

Hello! I think here in Argentina the local beers are, as you said, very mild and basic. Most of it are macro beers that have very little to offer. I hope you're enjoying the country!

I'm still here! And I will be here for another year.

I've learned that there is some decent macro products. The stouts are my go to. I particularly like the Imperial cream stout and weissbeer.

In Buenos Aires I'm finding more and more good microbrews. The problem is it is very much trial and error. Luckily there seems to be a lot of momentum and many new breweries.

In Palermo Hollywood there is a beer bar called On Tap that has 20 craft choices. Bodega Cervecera, also in Palermo, was a nice stop.

The best beers I have had have come from Don Santiago De Ortúzar (pale ale), Siete Colores (stout), Abdij Deleuze (saison). The last being my favorite.

This week or next I might do a cruise through San Telmo.

Nuevo Origen seems to be a strong brewery. It's located way in the middle of nowhere. I am impressed I was able to find their stuff tapped at BierLife in CABA. Their hoppy saison is exactly the kind of beer I am always looking for.

Abdij Deleuze continues to be a strong belgian style brewer. I've enjoyed their dubbel and blonde as well.

The absolute best beer I've had so far was Bomber IPA from Guira Cervezas De Mundo. Citra, columbus, beautiful. Reminded me of home.

Thanks. I haven't seen one wild or sour of any sort yet. The closest I have had was a "barley cider" today. And it was nice. Remanded me of kumbucha.

I'm on my third IPA of the day.

Nuevo Origen is my new favorite ARG cerveceria. You think Hill Farmstead is in the middle of nowhere? Look this place up. It blew my mind they can even aquire good materials, not to mention brew clean, bright, interesting light Belgian style ales and pale ale.

Kraken is another good. I had a Barleywine from Back that was super sweet and intense, but memorable with minimal faults.
