Hi All. Just picked up a growler at the pub this week. Tried a snifter on tap and I was hoping to like it more than I did. Thus, I'm considering trading it away. I'd appreciate any constructive input or suggestions on what I could reasonably be ISO in return. A couple of my top wants include: DDG, Cable Car, Vanilla or PVW DL, Mimosa, or Blabaer. Not sure if the Huna is in the same ballpark and I don't want to overreach for something that's not even close. If not close, would you think adding something reasonable (??) on my end provide enough incentive for someone? Or has 'reason' left the building in trading for these bottles????

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Cheers, and happy Friday!!

Just make sure to pack it bombproof.

    For the carrier's sake

I recently traded a 2011 Brandy DL for a growler of the AB Huna, if that gives you an idea.

For reference I traded a Damon for one. I think some of those you listed are a stretch, maybe Mimosa if you find the right person.

I'd say very little, since the growlers apparently explode when you look at them.

Yeah make sure have a backup plan or are prepared to ship first, have it explode, and that be the end of it. It took 2 tries to get the one I have now and I'm scared to move it.

LOL! Wasn't the exploding growler issue with the Zhukov's. I thought they determined it was defective growlers and got rid of them. Secondhand knowledge though.

Thanks for the input so far though; it's much appreciated.

It happened to some AB Hunahpu too. I'd imagine they would've gotten rid of all the bad growlers by now and are filling ones that won't break.

I'd imagine that they wouldn't have bought defective growlers in the first place. (I mean, that glass has to have a specification for pressure tolerance, you'd think that they'd check it. That they apparently didn't doesn't give me much confidence that they've fixed anything.)

Could've been a bad batch of glass. Not all of the growlers are pressure tested before delivery. Just speculation and chitchat though....

Yeah, but then I'd expect to have seen it happen somewhere else, too. I guess CCB could be the only one using those growlers...

i don't want to be in the position of defending tickar shitty, but i imagine that they, like any small business, are going to make mistakes and learn as they go. they may have bought vessels that were matched to their carbonation psi but no more, and that has obviously cost them. but that's more of an engineering topic and i wouldn't expect a brewer to know how to order stuff like that. i imagine a lot of equipment info falls under trade secrets, which is why you see apprenticeships in brewing.

Does the pub still have these AB Hunah growlers for sale?

Oh I know. I'm just saying, I wouldn't touch one of those growlers with a 10 foot pole for a few months.

I traded 1:1 for a GI Rare with somewhat ease. I got cickets while looking for a DDG. Also, was offered a ton of Chocolate Rain Batch 2 with add ons as well as a '08 Darkness 1:1.

The boards on engineeringadvocate.com are so damn boring.

My chicanery does not fly on those forums either.

I gave up an Alpine Great 2009 and x2 Beatification B5 for a growler...it was with a BA that I've traded with several times though...

    Cheers!

Vanilla Bourbon County pulled in one in our area, another local BA was able to land two of them (after the first box with an AB hunahpu and zhukov was destroyed) with a blend of solid brewery only / limited releases with a long time trading partner.

It is a fantastic beer, my favorite variation on Hunahpu by far.

    Cheers!
