ccb does have counter pressure machine. they use it mainly for the gal growlers. i have seen them cp fill the 32oz but i have also seen them bottom fill from the tap at the same time. so its a crap shoot

Blast...sounds like I'm out of the market. I still can't believe no one has seen any of these fills in action. Did CCB have them all pre-filled?

See, I've heard both sides of this. With all the talk surrounding them you'd think someone would know for sure.

My buddy that got me mine told me they were tap filled and that they were not filled using their neutral gas, counter pressure system that sits behind the bar. Seems like a mistake not to counter pressure these since so many would like to age this.

Could always trade for an original bottle.

By the way, Cigar City recommended that they should not be aged as they feel it has been aged enough in the barrels.

I'm not sure why you would age Hunahpu's anyways :astonished:

What's with the exploding growlers though? Makes me think they may have pressurized them.

Those were just the Apple Brandy Zhukov's, to my knowledge.

Same thing with Snack Attack, and they also said not to trade them because the heat from shipping in the summer would sour the peanuts. My friend got a growler and offered it to me, but hearing that from the brewers, I passed.

Has anyone had a growler yet? All the reviews are from the tap.

I've heard two different stories. Either way...what's the deal?

Quickest way to cut out auctioneering of your goods is make them extremely perishable. Very very few are going to pay high price for a brew (trade or otherwise) and be stuck paying for overnight shipping.

They had a batch of bad growlers. It wasn't the beer. To my knowledge, they ditched the rest of the bad growlers and Hunahpu was put into good ones though. That's, like, fifth-hand information though.

Hah...I have a feeling those might run even higher than the growlers.

Thanks for the replies! I was asking because I had a trade offer for one, but I'm headed to MN this weekend so I wouldn't get to trade for/open it for another 2 weeks at the earliest. No way I'd trade huge for a month old tap-filled growler.

I think you'd be surprised how well it will hold up.

Prior experience with month-old tap-filled growlers indicates it wouldn't hold up well at all.

    Pray tell...

I once had a tap filled growler of super friends that was 6 months old. It was even bottom filled, just capped on foam and refrigerated. It tasted exactly the same to me as it did originally. Granted I couldnt do a side by side. But it was full carbed and didnt come off as oxidized.

Having said that, I probably wouldnt trade big for a growler of something wasnt super fresh, you just never know I suppose.
