If you're looking for an excuse to visit Bellingham, the annual April Brews Day fest is as good a reason as any. A fun fest that supports a great cause. And this year, for the first time, tickets are available on-line. I strongly suggest going for the VIP ticket: http://www.maxhigbee.org/ticket-sales.html

Max Higbee Center provides recreational opportunities to developmentally disabled teens and adults, and this is their largest fund raiser of the year.

VIP tickets almost gone. Hit the website if there's any interest.

This years ABD was a big success. Max Higbee Center presold 500 VIP tickets, and over 2,000 general admission tickets. There was a line waiting to buy tickets at the door as well. They just posted the winners on FB:

In case you missed the announcement, here are the results of the top beers- be sure to head to their breweries to try these amazing brews if you missed them on Saturday!

    Judges Pick:
Best Overall: North Sound Brewing Co. Cherry Vanilla Stout
2nd Place: Ninkasi Brewing Lux/Helles Lager
3rd Place: Flyers Restaurant and Brewery Packemaker Porter

    People's Choice:
1st: Wander Brewing Imperial Global Mutt Baltic Porter
    2nd: Menace Brewing Denial IPA
3rd: Boundary Bay Brewery Cedar Dust IPA

I had that North Sound Stout, and it was fantastic. My personal vote went to Foggy Noggin for a brightly hopped Pale, whose name I'm spacing on, but had Diablo in the name. I also liked the Sour Brown from Schooner Exact, and several others as well. I didn't have any real clunkers, but then, I skipped the Birdsview booth entirely.:confused::grimacing::flushed:

We appreciate your comments on our English Pale Ale - Diablo del Sol. What a great beer event!

Thanks! Nicely bright hop flavors, crisp body, clean, dry finish. Very nice beer.

And, BTW, The Wander that took peoples choice was the Bourbon Barrel aged version of Global Mutt.
