Bba cereal killer was one of the biggest "sleeper" beer a I've had all year. Shame it won't be around anymore.

I believe it has to do with disposable income. If you have X dollers to spend a week and you pick up a new hobby like Marijuana it will leave you with less to spend on beer.

Don't feel bad I salute you, their responses were horeshit responses that blamed customer palates instead of their lousy brewing fuck ups

I get that angle for sure. I just don't know if that many people are gonna start smoking now that it's legal that wouldn't have already done it before... I suppose it will eventually become more of a part of the market as commercial sales come into effect. We'll see what the true effect is in a year or so when the regulatory people figure things out and stores can sell.

to comment on the cannabis thing with craft beer, all of the early legalish states also have thriving craft beer scenes. Colorado, Washington, Oregon, California, now add michigan and vermont. I'm seeing positive correlation over negative

Massachusetts just finally opened their first two spots a couple years after making it legal. Lines have reportedly been over 2 hours long at both places, so people might have to make some hard decisions about Tree House vs. weed

I read that thread and the responses from whoever was representing the brewery came off like some kind of automatic reply robot. The exclamation points were annoying too. Just be real.

Or maybe Tree House will apply for a license to sell weed - a twofer!?!:stuck_out_tongue:

    Cheers!

Their expansion plans for the site are pretty elaborate, and at least one of the founders appears to be something of a deadhead, so you never know

I used to frequently have Arcadia IPA on tap at a local bar. Also I also loved their hop mixed twelve pack and drank them regularly. A few years back I would get this pack and the beers had floaties in them and tasted old. too bad as I used to enjoy them. Take care!

Today is D-Day for Arcadia, will it be pad locked and auctioned or will it be business as usual? My bet is business as usual.

We actually had their beers in the cold box and dry shelves of the local (Minneapolis / Saint Paul area) area for a time, and I recall them as being able to hold their own among brands from other Michigan or upper Midwest breweries.

But Bell’s, Founders, and so many others no doubt had to have been tough competition, not to mention the tremendous changes in the marketplace in the past fifteen years.

I'm glad they are still hanging in there. I bought a six of their IPA recently and really liked it. I wish I could find Angler's Ale or Thunder Trail ESB in the stores.

Looks like the auction was postponed:

Update: The axe has fallen. The local news reports that the "property" has been sold to the mortgage-holding bank for $1. No further details have emerged to clarify what that means, but the brewery is still operating. Back taxes are still owed too for 2017.

I wondered what was going on. For a minute I didn't see Arcadia in the stores around here and suddenly there was fresh stuff everywhere for the last couple months. I can't say they're a favorite of mine, but I enjoyed visiting when I went to Battle Creek each summer.

Yeah, I used to be a fan of their beers when they were in BC, my hometown. I've come to realize that I'm not so much a fan anymore, but some that is probably sour grapes since they closed up shop here. I still like their BBQ and I go to the Kzoo location for that occasionally.

Maybe someone did and the place will survive.

The latest media-reported update says a corporation that seems to be set up by the bank that now owns the property will operate the brewery part of the business (pending approval of licensing agencies), and another independent company will operate the food side of the business and turn it into a "full-service" restaurant. Contract brewing is mentioned as being in the plans so as to better utilize the brewery's capacity. Nothing is mentioned about Tim Suprise, the former owner, so I'm guessisng that he's out of the picture now.

Here's the article that I copied the M-Live link from Facebook:

That would be an excellent idea for a tv show. Imagine a Gordon Ramsey like character yelling at bad brewers ...
