Phaser has been selling quickly most everywhere from what I've seen. I was told it would run through the end of March, so there should be several more shipments before it's done, but I could be wrong. It's certainly a great deal for the price.
Tried the new Coldfire-Cumulus Tropicalis cans yesterday, also selling fast around here, probably because they have a good local following who have been waiting for them to can for a while now. It's also very good, canned 1/29.

Actually, that's *literally* what he said. Those quotes @NeroFiddled used where there for a reason.

Unless calling oneself a "self proclaimed hater" of something != hating it.

You are quoting him literally, but you are missing verbiage and critical context:

In this case, I'd say that being a skeptic/hater does not mean that he hates the NE IPA style and won't drink it.

Matter of fact, the rest of his quote says this:

So yes, "calling oneself a "self proclaimed hater" of something != hating it."

It just means he knows he's critical of the style. And to some people, anything less than uncritical acceptance somehow translates to "hating."

Gentlemen, relax, I did put the grinning with smiley face behind what I wrote, right? I wasn't disrespecting or trolling, I was just making a little joke. I understood the whole context of the post, it just seemed ironic with such an opening.

Hello from New England! I live in CT, work in MA, girlfriend lives in boston so I live there on the weekends, I have way too much exposure to hazy IPAs so I thought I'd jump in here. I think part of the issue for the hazy beers tasting the same is recognizing that a lot of the top NEIPA brewers are legitimately brewing the same beer just using different hops or hop rates. All of Trillium's Street beers are the exact same except for the hops, same with the small birds series. The same goes for Tree House, they make 7 versions of the same beer (Julius, JJJulius, King Julius, King JJJuliusss, Alter Ego, Doppelganger, Doubleganger)

I didn't know I said anything controversial. Whatever. Actually, I would change my original comment. I'm enjoying a Triple Crush from Reuben's as we speak and loving it. John, there's a crowler for you if you want it.

Mmmmmm.... pretty hard to say no to that Larry.

Do you think it will last till the stout tasting? A beer like that... would love to be able to share it with everyone coming to the tasting.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply it was controversial or anything. Just found it funny that his opening sentence essentially said "I'm a hazy IPA hater" (even if he went on to describe not really hating the style), and you said he didn't say anything about hating hazy IPAs.

Heh. I wasn't referring to him, although he did come to mind as I was typing.

    Wow. I’m quite the topic.

In an effort to clarify things, I was using “hater” much more liberally than actually “HATING” hazy ipas. My general attitude of “meh” is certainly less enthusiastic than the runaway hype train for the style we are currently experiencing. I would say I’m more critical and generally skeptical about them, especially the super hyped ones. all in all, I don’t find the style overly offensive and from time to time I find one that is quite impressive (ex novo gonna need a bigger boat, I’m looking at you).

But my original point was that most of them ar extremely similar. For example, I’m drinking a can of Ecliptic Phaser right now. Very enjoyable, and a great value for a six pack, but this could be a number of other hazy IPAs IMO.

I was at PCC last night and noticed that Peddler has Seattle Haze in cans. Would rather grab a single before I commit to a 6-pack so I didn't buy it.

That is exactly what most breweries are doing, making the same beer but changing up the hops. I find this shows the unique flavors of different hops in the ways the flavor profiles change. Monkish does this too. You either like the style of a specific brewery or not.

I also agree that for many things the initial hype will eventually die down or you can always find other local options that have less hype than the original ones. We are seeing this in San Diego as market saturation is getting closer and it is getting more difficult for everyone to compete especially as more breweries are starting to get their hazy cans into distribution.

Modern Times doesn't do lines so their hazy stuff tends to stick around a bit longer and you can easily go in and grab some of it. Other breweries do a great job of keeping it mostly on tap to improve quality control and avoid bringing in mobile canning companies that can have lots of issues with consistency.

For what it's worth, Zupans off Macadam has two new Hazy IPAs from Trap Door Brewing out of Vancouver?

Never heard of them before now. Will report back after I've imbibed.

Had the Phaser on Monday and I don't know if I had a bad batch or something, but it was not very good. Definitely a NW version of a hazy ipa (which is actually what I prefer), but something just seemed off flavor wise and there was some weird alcoholic harshness that hit shortly after each sip. I might try another at somepoint, as I wasn't even able to finish the beer

Trap Door is probably one of the better Vancouver Breweries and does the best Hazy Ipa's besides maybe Fortside's Orange whip.

A different perspective: Hazy IPAs...mostly different???

(That’s legitimately my experience, so, you know, #iaintsorry. Personally, I don’t find the hazy IPA style any less diverse than more traditional IPAs. Heck, just consider some of the semi-recent Holy Mtn #hazebro releases—Spirit Crusher, Wetwired, and Astral. All decidedly different, and running the gamut from wonderful to ugly AF.)

Also, if u really wanna experience the diversity of the hazy IPA style, go trade for a variety of those Hill Farmturd cans. That stuff is absolutely beautiful.

It's weird, but I sometimes get a buttery flavor (Diacetyl) from a couple hazy style beers in the PNW recently. I'll buy a 6-pack and no problem at all. Then on the second 6-pack, I start getting the buttery flavor, which I'm not a huge fan of.

It could simply be my taste buds and nothing else. Just curious if this occurs sometimes?
