I miss growlers too but cans are just so much more convenient and better for the beer.
I used to decorate our Christmas tree with all of the growler tags... good days

The only places that fill growlers around here are beer bars, not breweries.

Anyone know if McIlhenney fills growlers/howlers? I know they use crowlers these days but never asked if they did or not.

They mention taking a growler home on the site, but not sure if they'll fill outside/blank ones or if you have to buy one there.

I recently found a small local brewery in Walnut, Common Corners Brewing. They had some growlers behind the bar so I figured I’d pick one up for old times sake. The owner brought it to me and started explaining how to care for it since apparently some customers had been complaining about mold growing and such. I let him know that I’m an old head who used to have an insane collection of growlers from places like Stone, Lost Abbey, Port, Alpine, etc. I know my way around growlers lol I remember having to drive down to SD just to fill them. It wasn’t until Beachwood LB opened that I had anywhere within an hour that I could grab a good fill. Nice to know I have a growler that I can fill 5 minutes away from home now lol

I rarely use my growlers anymore since the price per ounce compared to packaged beer isn't what it used to be. But I do miss the fun of opening a growler and saying "welp, I guess we have to drink all of this tonight".

I think the days of the amber or clear glass growlers are over, but the double walled vacuum insulated growlers are actually quite good. They’ll keep beer cold and carbonated without being stored cold for at least 24 hours. I like filling mine at Mountain Rambler, Distant, and/or June Lake in the Eastern Sierras to take on a day hike and not have to worry about the beers being cold when I get to a spot. Cans don’t travel nearly as well.

The issue I see though is breweries don’t really give deals to those filling growlers and like others have already mentioned, it’s usually cheaper to grab a 4-pack or crowler.

If they're dead I think we have a prime suspect.

I think we CAN narrow it down…
